Pretty much.

If AMD priced the 6900XT $800, $6800XT $600 and 6800 $500, that would have been a dominating lineup. Their current pricing structure really doesn't make much sense. If Nvidia's RT performance is this far ahead and AMD's main claim is Raster, then the 6000 at every price point and resolution should be beating 3000 series. Instead they choose the path where they mostly lose at 4k, trades blows at 1440p and wins in 1080p. It's quite hard to justify unless you are a die hard AMD fan.

I almost want to call it greed which to be fair, the 6900XT 110% is. But I think Nvidia really pulled out a surprise price point which they were able to achieve with Samsung's 8nm being cheaper than TSMC's 7nm. And because of that, it potentially goofed with AMD's plans overall which would explain the wonky AIB pricing for the 6000 series.

Now the question is, can they continue a good path with RDNA 3 and actually beat Nvidia?

I agree that a $50-100 would make the 6000 series a lot more compelling. Maybe it's the higher amount of memory that drives the price that bit higher than it should be, or maybe it's greed. Who knows.

As for the future, AMD seems confident about RDNA3. I recall a statement saying that they'll try to bring the same 50% improvement again, but it's still too early. With 5nm it will be easier to achieve that power consumption goal and, in my opinion, with a bigger bus they'll get a big uplift in performance at 1440p and 4K.

What I'm curious about is their RT performance. They now have one RT core for each CU, but I don't know if they could "simply" double that without running into bottlenecks or affecting other parts of the chip. But well, we'll see.

And there's also the rumor that the next chips could be designed around chiplets.

One thing is for sure, tho, and it's that after Navi 2x, Nvidia knows that AMD is closer than they thought and that they can't fool around.

Pretty much this.

Also, just imagine AMD dominating both Intel and NVidia at the same time...

What I hope however, is that the prices for PC hardware go down again a notch. Almost everything but RAM and SSDs are overpriced right now, not just the GPUs and CPUs.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

If you love the SkyUI mod for Skyrim, you should check out FallUI for Fallout 4
https://www.pcgamer.com/if-you-love-the-skyui-mod-for-skyrim-you-should-check-out-fallui-for-fallout-4/
Of all the Skyrim mods ever made, and we're talking tens of thousands, SkyUI is one of the most popular of all time with millions of downloads. And it's easy to see why: Skyrim's vanilla UI was very clearly designed with consoles in mind, with oversized text for people sitting on couches and playing on their TVs, and menu options meant to be scrolled through via a controller.
On PC, where players have access to a mouse and are sitting much closer to our monitors, Skyrim's UI is not a great experience. Enter the SkyUI mod, which redesigned the UI to be far more PC friendly, visually pleasing, and heavily customizable, while adding lots of useful sorting and searching features.
If you use and enjoy SkyUI (and even if you don't), you should definitely take a look at FallUI, which is attempting to do the same thing for Fallout 4. It's not made by the creator of SkyUI but is clearly inspired by it, and it sure looks a lot nicer and far more useful than the vanilla system. FallUI has improved item lists and filtering, weapon sorting by attributes like damage and DPS, plus subcategories for items like food, drinks, and apparel that make it much easier to find what you're looking for quickly rather than having to wade through entire lists of items.

As Minecraft neared its full release in 2011, it was already clear that things were going well. Developer Markus 'Notch' Persson had many inspirations for the game, but a comparison people naturally draw is to LEGO: not necessarily in all the game's elements, but in its freeform structure and the simple pleasure of building something.

How do people get your Steam password?

Just had an email about a login attempt for my account from Palestine. But I don't even know what my password is so how on earth do they?

If it's an attempt, they probably know your username which they can get by just randomly guessing. Still I'd make sure to have Steam guard enabled with the account just in case.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

DF put out a first impressions video on Cyberpunk. It doesn't contain any footage of the PC version yet just B roll but apparently, Nvidia GPU users are in for a visual orgasm with Ray Tracing on because CD Projekt Red only allowed people to show off footage with RT off. The way they are describing it sounds like holy shit.

Also it sounds like 3090 + RT max + DLSS goes down to 50 fps at times. They are describing it as the Crysis of this generation which is funny cause Flight Sim was already hard enough to run.

Some possibilities:

  • Probably the main way to learn someone's password is through a breach from another service. If you use the same password for multiple services and its gets leaked from one of them (it actually happens relatively often), you should assume you're going to lose all the other accounts using the same password unless you change their password. This is also the reason you should never, ever, use the same password for different services/accounts.
  • It's possible to automate guessing and guess the password if the password is easy enough. If you want to be anywhere safe, pick a password that's at least ten characters long. Less might be OK if the password is totally random, but as processing power increases, so do the requirements for safe passwords.
  • Some kind of password recovery functionality might enable this, e.g. if the attacker has access to your email account (but sometimes even contacting customer support could be enough for the attacker).
  • You have a virus on your device and it's logging your keypresses. This is not exactly likely, but it's possible.
  • There's probably a bunch of other ways as well.

If you need to, use a password manager to make it easier to use a different password for each service/account and to ensure that even strong passwords (e.g. long ones consisting of random characters only) are practical.

I like both of the first games - though I played them both on my old gaming desktop - thankfully was able to run 60 FPS on both (VSync off).

This one was running 50 FPS but when I turned off VSync it goes up to 500 FPS lol. Have to turn off VSync cause the cutscenes were choppy.

Steam says that I played them in 2011 and 2013, so I did it with my old 5850. Nowadays I could run them much better.

Have you tried setting a limit to the fps? It could help you avoid those spikes to 500fps.

I didnt see a Frame limit option like in some other games, may have to take a look at the game's .ini file if that is available to see if I can manually input it to 60.

You can also limit the fps through the control panel of both Nvidia and AMD (you need to have Chill installed for AMD, tho). It's easier than doing it with the .ini files.

For 60 FPS you could also simply activate VSync, should be even easier.
