My GTX 1070 is still fast enough for all games... and will probably be fast enough until the first multi-platform games PC/PS5/Xbox Scarlett arrive.

So I'll probably skip the 11x0 cards and wait for the 7nm-GPUs.

I plan to keep my 1070 for as long as I can.

I don't have anyhting against those that upgrade every year, but unless the actual hardware is limiting your gaming experience, I really don't see the need to upgrade.

There has never been a moment where my gaming hardware was not limiting my experience and I doubt that moment will come anytime soon. How many years do you think until we have high end cards that can do 4k144fps with HDR, RT, AA and everything else cranked up? Quite a couple, I reckon.

Well, that depends on how much you want to spend and the necessary setup for it. A single 1080Ti can almost do 4K@60fps in today's games, so it wouldn't surprise me if a couple of 1180Ti cards in SLI were capable of achieving what you want.

But you're not an ordinary gamer, you are pushing the limits with such high needs. After all, the majority of monitors sold are still 1080p@60Hz, and for that a 1060 or 580 are enough.

Thursday news, part two:

Stardew Valley multiplayer out now on PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/stardew-valley-multiplayer-out-now-on-pc/
Stardew Valley's multiplayer is live now on PC.
First announced back in 2016, Concerned Ape's farm 'em up supports four player co-op that's said to be "nearly identical to singleplayer", but with three pals. In MP, you'll work towards a common goal. Any singleplayer game can be converted by having Robin build one or more cabins on your farm, too.

Sunless Sea 'Tales of the Grave-Garden' expansion mod adds stories, ships, guns
https://www.pcgamer.com/sunless-sea-tales-of-the-grave-garden-expansion-mod-adds-stories-ships-guns/
Sunless Sea is coming to PS4 consoles, I learned today. And while I'm not really fussed about that, the news did remind me I hadn't checked on the game's PC modding community in some time. So I did. And I discovered Enneagon's impressive Tales of the Grave-Garden expansion mod that launched earlier this week. Good old serendipity.

Hypergun is a neon roguelite FPS with weird weapons and petty office politics
https://www.pcgamer.com/hypergun-is-a-neon-roguelite-fps-with-weird-weapons-and-petty-office-politics/
Hypergun is a high-speed roguelite FPS about a man named Dewey Owens, an intern at DevTech Labs who has become instrumental in the development of humanity's ultimate-weapon defense against alien invaders. Not because he's a particularly talented warrior or weaponsmith, but because he broke into the office over the weekend (apparently fending off extraterrestrial hordes is strictly a 9-to-5 gig) and ended up in the testing sim.

Death's Gambit is a lush 2D fantasy RPG releasing this month
https://www.pcgamer.com/deaths-gambit-is-a-lush-2d-fantasy-rpg-releasing-this-month/
Death's Gambit is a challenging 2D action RPG which has been in development since at least 2016. When you watch the new trailer embedded below, you'll probably be put in mind of Dark Souls, and there's some fairly obvious comparisons to be drawn with Dead Cells, too. But this is no rogue-lite: it's a meticulously pieced together Metroidvania with tough bosses and a very detailed and vibrant pixel-art aesthetic. Between this, Dead Cells and Chasm, we're spoilt for choice at the moment.

The biggest battle in EVE Online's entire history is happening right now and you can watch
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-biggest-battle-in-eve-onlines-entire-history-is-happening-right-now-and-you-can-watch/
EVE Online is in the midst of easily the biggest battle in its entire history right now. In the system of X47L-Q, some 3,500 players have amassed to either attack or defend a Keepstar citadel owned by Northern Coalition. So far, each side has committed a total of almost 400 Titans, the biggest and most expensive ships in EVE Online and the extremely valuable backbone of EVE's mighty armadas. For some perspective, the previous record-holding battle, The Bloodbath of B-R5RB, only saw a total of just over 200 titans. This battle might end up costing both sides a million real-world dollars (if you were to convert it to subscription time) if it doesn't end early. Simply put, this is the fight that EVE Online players have been wanting for years.

>>The article is from 16 hours ago, so who knows if the battle is still going on or not.

Leaked audio is fine, but I've since been keen to learn more about the FPS/RPG hybrid from the dev's perspective. The series' final breakdown looks at cars and clothes.

Life is Strange 2 reveals new teaser trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/life-is-strange-2-teases-teaser-trailer-ahead-of-launch-next-month/
Life is Strange 2 will land in September, said Andy in the wake of E3. Back then, a 20-second teaser showed off some nice music, a launch date—September 27—and a old, battered rucksack. The latest short shows a wee bit more than that. But not by much.

We have new info about Nvidia's upcoming cards, ans some of it is confusing:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 PCB has been leaked
https://videocardz.com/76953/nvidia-geforce-gtx-2080-1180-pcb-has-been-leaked
The PCB of an upcoming NVIDIA card has been leaked by Baidu user. The photos present a new card that will sport either 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6 memory. The card has 10-phase VRM powered through 6+8pin power connectors (the 6-pin might be optional). For comparison, the GTX 1080 has only one 8-pin connector.
This is not a custom board, as the board model and NVIDIA logo suggest that this is a reference PCB. The new SLI fingers might be an implementation of NVLink for gaming cards.

And now, let's go to the confusing part:

NVIDIA board partner registers (Ampere?) GA104-400 GPU at EEC
https://videocardz.com/76967/nvidia-board-partner-registers-ampere-ga104-400-gpu-at-eec
On July 20th, Manli Technology Group has notified EEC certification office about upcoming products. In a wall of text, we discovered GA104 graphics processor, a GPU that was neither released nor confirmed by NVIDIA.
Not only that, the exact GPU model is listed, which is GA104-400. This is without a doubt the processor for next-gen NVIDIA graphics card (possibly GeForce GTX 2080).
This entry does not prove that new architecture is called Ampere, in fact it does not prove anything at all. However, this is the only evidence that upcoming series *might* be called Ampere (or at least something that starts with ‘A’).
For now, this is all we have got. It does not get any better than this until we see the first photos of the actual GPU.

Manli teases GeForce GTX 2080 and GeForce GTX 2070
https://videocardz.com/76978/manli-teases-geforce-gtx-2080-and-geforce-gtx-2070
Manli also registered two GeForce 20 series codenames at EEC. If this leak was to be considered plausible and it should, the new cards should be called GeForce GTX 2080 and GeForce GTX 2070 respectively. Something that we have been preaching for months.
Just an hour ago, we told that Manli registered GA104-400 GPU at EEC. This would indicate that new series are called GeForce 20 and the architecture is called Ampere.

EVO 2018 begins later today and almost all of its roster will be free to play on Steam this weekend. This basically means that Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter 5, Tekken 7 and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be free to play. Alongside them, Absolver will also be free to play this weekend.
As you may have guessed, all the aforementioned titles have also been discounted. So basically, you can get to try these games and then purchase them at a lower price (which is kind of cool).

Murderous Pursuits is free to try this weekend
https://www.pcgamer.com/murderous-pursuits-is-free-to-try-this-weekend/
Murderous Pursuits is a multiplayer assassination game that echoes the Assassin's Creed series' now absent multiplayer. There is potential for amusing cat-and-mouse exchanges, says Pip in her review, but a lobby full of humans is hard to find. Here's hoping a free weekend boosts its player count.
Live now through Sunday August 5 at 1pm PT / 9pm BST, Murderous Pursuits is free to try on Steam. Developer Blazing Griffin—the studio behind The Ship: Remasted—bills its latest as a "kill-or-be-killed stealth-em-up multiplayer game for 1-8 players." I agree with Pip here—there's fun to be had in Murderous Pursuits, when you can find enough players to tangle with.

>>That's almost all Steam has to offer this weekend. I don't know what I'll list on the other post...

On the Humble Store, there's a new weekend sale featuring Ubisoft, with up to 80% discounts: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/promo/ubisoft-hits/

Here is how you can manually save anywhere in Yakuza 0
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/here-is-how-you-can-manually-save-anywhere-in-yakuza-0/
Yakuza 0 has just been released on the PC, however there isn’t currently any official way via which you can save manually your progress whenever you want. Thankfully, it appears there is a workaround for this, though we strongly suggest avoiding saving under extreme situations (like when fighting someone).
Saving under weird scenarios, like when you are fighting a boss, will corrupt your save file. As such, and in case you are interested in this workaround, we strongly suggest using multiple save slots and avoiding saving under bizarre situations.

>>I know this isn't a mod but, since you'll have to mess with .ini files, so this is its place.

Modder ‘Kaldaien’, best known for his amazing Special-K mod for NieR: Automata, has released the first mod for Yakuza 0. This first version of Special-K for Yakuza 0 allows players to disable first-person blur, Depth of Field and SSAO.
According to the modder, this mini-plugin for Special K will improve image quality as well as adding all the bells and whistles that come with Special K.
In future versions, Kaldaien aims to to fix the bloom filter and address the volume issues that can be noticed at the start of the game.

>>You can get it from Steam.

No Man's Sky modder aims to improve NEXT update with suite of projects
https://www.pcgamer.com/no-mans-sky-modder-aims-to-improve-next-update-with-suite-of-projects/
Prior to the launch of No Man's Sky's NEXT update last week, I wrote about modder Redmas' NMS Origins. Designed to "restore the original vision" of the game, the creator stressed their love for No Man's Sky and that their adjustments aimed to improve what they already considered a great game.
Just over a week following the launch of NEXT, Redmas has created eight mods along similar lines.
Redmas' catalogue of NEXT mods can be perused in full here—a list which includes the creator's Hoverbike, Wheelbike and Redmaspod vehicles.

Fallout 4 mod lets you worship statues of Todd Howard
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-4-mod-lets-you-worship-statues-of-todd-howard/
During Bethesda's latest E3 conference, studio director Todd Howard took to the stage to share a cute metaphor about the expo's history. Toward the end, he says to the crowd that "most of you came here for one thing." After a brief pause, a dude in the crowd shouts back, "Todd Howard!" I like to think that dude is Wanaming0, the modder behind the newly released Todd Howard statue mod for Fallout 4.
As you may have guessed, Wanaming0's mod lets you build statues of Todd Howard and put them in your settlements. You can also build statues that glow in the dark, and for real Todd Howard enthusiasts like that dude in the crowd, there's the option to replace the Minutemen statues near the Red Rocket settlement and the Glowing Sea with Howard's bronze visage. This causes the Children of Atom to worship the statue, resulting in the creation of some strange religious texts.

BioWare boss Casey Hudson talks about Anthem's shared-world storytelling
https://www.pcgamer.com/bioware-boss-casey-hudson-talks-about-anthems-shared-world-storytelling/
There's been quite a bit of speculation about how BioWare's Destiny 2-styled online shooter Anthem will tell a single-player story contained within a multiplayer world, particularly since epic tales of solo heroism have historically been BioWare's bread and butter. Casey Hudson's "mid-summer update" on the BioWare Blog reveals a little bit about how the studio is approaching the task through a system called "Our World, My Story."

Destiny 2 'combat reveal' teaser hints at changes coming in Forsaken

Today Bungie teased a "Year Two Combat Reveal Stream" for Destiny 2 that will take place next week. The teaser was a very brief video that includes roughly nine seconds (I counted) of combat. It's not much to look at, but within those nine seconds are some very interesting hints about what we have to look forward to.
