An easier and healthier way to avoid supporting these places is to find a local "free range" farm (area permitting I suppose). They let the animals freely roam and eat grass (as opposed to grain and corn) which actually provide not only higher quality meat but meat that is good for you. Thats what my family has done and the food actually tastes a helluva lot better, the bacon is F'ing amazing and the milk (straight from the cow) actaully has flavor. I haven't gotten sick in over a year even though I work with the general public all day.

The more watched again and noticed more crazy shit. The guy steps on the bird, pulls its neck as far as it will go then twist it all the way around, then lets it go and the bird starts running with its head spinning back in place but dies before all the way there.

Yup, I've watched similar documentaries before. The meat industry is pretty fucked up, unfortunately the same is true about the fur industry and the drug industry. The have to use the cheapest ways possible to keep prices low, and to them the benjamins are worth much more than the lives of billions of animals. By the way, most of the workers in this video (and in the food industry in general) are illegal immigrants working for pathetic salaries. In a way, I feel almost as bad for the workers as I do for the animals.

For the last 2 years I've been buying my meat at local farmers' markets. All of the animals live full, normal lives and are slaughtered in a humane manner using hands, not machines. The prices are obviously much more expensive than buying meat at Walmart, but it's for a good cause. I urge everyone here who has the means to find local farmers' markets in their areas and buy their meat from there.
