Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Preparing to Go on the Offensive with Free Xbox Live?

I can see them doing a 3-6 month free trial of Gold.

I heard that when I pre-ordered my Day One edition I will also get a year free of XBLG. Was told in store.

If MS were smart they would give away 1 free month of gold standard with every X1. A lot of online based services do this (Netflix, LinkedIn, etc.) to entice people.

According to the source, Microsoft hopes that Xbox One users will ultimately choose to embrace many of the features that caused concern after the system’s unveiling. “[They] still believe strongly that their original business model contains many revolutionary features that consumers can be incentivized to adopt or that consumers will activate on their own,” the source revealed.

Can't trust Microsoft, how can checking in every hour benefit gamers in any way? How will restricting the sales of used games be better for us? It's better for them, that's all, and they are still sore that their insane policies finally made them look insane.

I know all MS wants is my money, they don't care about making a good product.

EDIT: Also, how is this any different to what the 360 offers? If they want to offset the cost of XBLG with the PS4 and PS+, that means either 20 months free with XBLG prices, or 24 months free with PS+ Prices. Not to mention the free games on PS+ are actually good. I can't see MS bundling Forza Motorsport 5 for free for Gold Subscribers.

Microsoft is not a giving company. They will only give to barely give back for now much they've taken away.

What has Microsoft taken away from you?

I don't know if I'm missing something or not, but even if the Xbox One were to come with a free year of Live Gold membership, it would still cost most than a PlayStation 4 and 1 year of PS Plus. PS4 + 1 Year PS Plus = $450.

Doesnt sound very offensive...

Wasn't it already confirmed that day one editions come with a free year of gold?

The way he talks about MS, you'd think he'd been Theon Greyjoy'd!

I think we'll see bundles for both consoles with between 1 and 3 months of +/Gold thrown in. In essence it costs them nothing and it likely draws people into paying to retain the service when they otherwise wouldn't think to sign up to the paid service for several months after purchase, if ever.

I think MS will be more generous that Sony, because they need to be.
