Miyamoto also screwed up Starfox Assault and the 3DS (to a degree) lol.

How is it a good idea to put a gyroscope on a 3D screen that requires your head to be at a fixed position?

Everyone has his or her flaws. But still, I doubt this man will ever be surpassed.

Oh, and Yuji Horii is pretty influential to me as a big JRPG fan.

Kazunori Yamauchi, Mark Cerny?

Nintendo 2018

English is not my native language.

Nice list!

Your list lacks 2 men that I would consider not only gaming legends but also pop culture legends.

Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori.

These men created what I would say is the greatest game concept in history, Pokemon. No other game has taken the world by storm like Pokemon.

There have been bigger games than Pokemon.

But I agree, Pokemon is just a brilliant concept executed flawlessly.

As far as games go only Mario and now Call of Duty can match its popularity. But as a form of media (I know this is strictly about games) no one can touch Pokemon's popularity.

PlayStation Vita Japanese Software Sales (Media Create Physical/ Famitsu Digital)

pretty Japan centric but a good list. Some notable omissions would be

Sid Meier: creator of Civilization, Pirates!, Alpha Centauri, SimGolf and a lot of early Flight Sims. All round nice guy and still works as a programmer on his games.

Ken Levine: From his work on Thief, System Shock 2, Freedom Force to his work on Bioshock he has cemented his place as one of the industries leading game writers and world builders.

Richard Garriott: while he has not done a lot recently his work on the Ultima series defined much of the computer RPG genre, as well as MMORPGs.

Mark Cerny: As well as being a gifted programmer he has a long history of producing some of the most popular Playstation games for Sony. From Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to Crash Bandicoot (1, 2, 3), Spyro (1, 2, 3), Jack & Daxter series, Rachet & Clank series, Resistance (1 & 2), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, God of War 3, Killzone 3. He has been involved in them all.

Yuji Naka: Head of Sega's Sonic team for many years, one of the creators of Sonic and a key creator of the Phantasy Star series. Along with credits of many of Sega's more off the wall games such as Nights, Chu Chu Rocket, and Puyo Pop Fever.

Gabe Newell: Founder of Valve, and creator of Half-Life. Him and his company has left a deep and lasting impact on the industry form popularizing the cinematic FPS with Half-Life, to redefining videogame distribution with Steam, helping support the mod and indie scene by supporting Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Gary's Mod, placing indies front and center along with AAA games of Steam, Steam workshop, Source engine etc etc etc.

Edit:  a few notible people worth mentioning

James Phinney: A key programmer and gameplay desinger at Blizzard during the golden age starting from Warcraft II, most notible for his work as gameplay lead on Starcraft/ Brood War which was long the defacto standard in eSports. His work on Diablo 1, Guild Wars, Sacrifice, and most recently the wildly successful XBLA hit State of Decay.

Dan Houser (And Sam Houser to a slightly lesser extent): ok 2 people but they worked together on most of their games most influential games the GTA series. Also notible for Dan's work on Read Dead Redemption, and Bully. Their impact on the industry is undeniable.

Amy Hennig: Her work on the Legacy of Kain series, Jak 3/X and the Uncharted series certainly deserves a nod.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

No Ken Levine? I think Ken is simply one of the greatest video game talents in the industry today.

I also really think Sakuri should be given a shout out. Creating Kirby, Smash bros, and recently making kid icarus relevant again. He is just such a hard worker, and all his games are stuffed to the gills with content.

Where is Yuji Naka and why is Yu Suzuki so low? Seriously, if Miyamoto is Micheal Jackson then Suzuki is Prince.
