Forums - Gaming - Cliffy B: Sony forced Microsoft's hand, not the internet whining

This guy needs to take that MS rod out of his ass. I liked him better when he just talked about Gears of War and just stfu after that.

Does everyone who agrees with Microsoft have to sound like a corporate American puppet?

The DLC model as shown by Killer Instinct on the Xbox was already meant to expand so oooooooOOOOOOH you really scareeeeed me now Cliffy! Imprending doom making me shiver in all the right places. Even with the DRM DLC was still going to expand. You think taking our rights was going to stop them from putting out DLC? Dumb fuck....you must really like being in bed with Microsoft.

i'm pretty sure that is one of the examples he doesn't really mean since you can still get the full experience for 60 bucks or less. if you want to play it for free or only invest money for some fighters is only an option. but buying a 60 bucks game which is only "a half game" is something much worse.

If he was so interested in developers getting paid for their games, why isn't he more concerned about self publishing?  Also did he miss this past generation?  Tacked on multiplayer and DLC were here to stay.  Publishers aren't going to give up revenue streams just because they got a new one from used games.  Did he forget about weapon skins in Gears 3?  Yet he is complaining about hats lol.

Also what happened to piracy on the PC killing game developers?  Now all of a sudden it's the savior from the terror of used games.

This is why people in other industries have PR reps. People don't know when to shut up.

Rebuttal to Cliffy's nonsense. http://www.destructoid.com/an-industry-that-needs-xbox-one-drm-is-a-failed-industry-256643.phtml

Well he can never go back on what he's said and call it a bad idea. Even though that's essentially what Microsoft has done. Cliff is what you'd call a "company man". His company is always in the right no matter what.

Imo Microsoft made a good decision. Forced installations make much more sense when consoles don't have a physical drive. If XB1 was digital only I think more people could have seen the point of it.

I doubt that we would get rid of dlc and microtransactions, if used sales were stopped. Companies always want to maximize profits, and why would they give up the income through dlc, just because they don't lose money on used sales?

For the same reason I don't think, games would have been cheaper. Microsoft had already revealed that all new XB1-games would still cost $60.

Personally I only buy used games when I can no longer find them in stores (eg, Wipeout HD Fury), since I often wait until the games have fallen in price. Without used sales I actually think that far less people would pre-order or buy expensive games on day 1. Several of my friends can only afford brand new games because they exchange their latest purchased games.

I only pre-ordered Last of Us, GTA 5 and Watch Dogs due to GameStop's offer. I'm convinced that at least to some extent this compensates for the money, the developers miss through used sales.

Outspoken games dev Cliff Bleszinski has said that Sony, not the angry internet, was the driving force behindMicrosoft’s spectacular U-turn last night.

“Sony forced Microsoft's hand, not the internet whining,” he wrote on Twitter. “At the end of the day many hardcore dislike what was attempted. You can't do well in that space with many of your core unhappy. Especially when users have a choice. The nature of capitalism encourages competition and Sony played into that.

I think all games are still installed on the xbox one. its just now you still have to keep your disc, and put in every time to play. unless they announced no installed or something.

More mobile games? Great!

Seriously this guy should stop talking. His far out their opinions were amusing for a little while, but now he is just getting annoying. He is acting entitled and insulting gamers.
