I mean to send only few kilobytes. How many don't have internet capable of that?
I think less than 5%.

In areas where xbox sells sure. in areas where sony sells... a lot more. think of the developing countries, not everyone has internet
Well in my first 2 years of university, I didn't have any internet connection.
My friend managed to create a dodgy virtual network which allowed my PS3 on the internet, but it didn't work with the Xbox
There was just about a phone data signal, but not in the first year, so I could have gone online for the check in, but it would have been a pain
I now do have plenty of internet for all my consoles!
We know that 80% of all WiiU consoles are connected to the internet. But that doesn't mean that the rest don't have internet.
man, i'm still not amused that we won't get the awesome idea of game sharing anymore just because almost everyone complained about a few kb data check every 24 hours. what a horrible change that was yesterday...
everything else could be changed but why that...

MS could have changed shit but kept the cool features. idky they scrapped everything and took the 360 approach. all we wanted was used games and no online check... and by we i mean others. i didnt really care

the online check is necessary for game sharing. otherwise i could lend 100 games, go online with this library for once and disconnect forever. the people in my family list could play all those games forever even when i didn't own them anymore. maybe it could still work with digitally purchased games but i think gamestop is another reason because they probably said something like “if you will have that feature, we will try to sell playstation and not xbox consoles“
