Forums - Gaming - Microsoft lost another war against Sony after HD DVD fiasco

They listen to the community and reversed a policy which was a mistake in the first place and you are attacking them. People find the smallest and the stupidest things just to attack a company. No wonder the xbox fanbase is dwindling here

I' am not judging and not sure what will be the future implications of reversing online policies of X1 but one thing is sure that Microsoft is a company you can not rely on. It seems Microsoft lost another war against Sony after HD DVD fiasco because they don't listen to their fanbase.

First they disappointed the Xbox fans with their new policies but some of them started believing them and started to like their policies and now they are betraying them as well and thats how they treat their fanbase, here i will not go in details,  you already know what i' am talking about.

The big question is this, CAN YOU TRUST THEM?

Can we trust them? Like the trust i i have in some friends and family? how serious are are you and people taking shit like this? it's a fucking video game console we are talknig about. Do poeples lives revolve around companies that much that they are this sensitive about companies? You, and other people, need to grow up and get a life. Especially with stupid threads like this. I'm amused everday with dumb fucking threads about trust and anger and hate and everything else because people are just way too serious about gaming nowadays and need to get out a little more.

They are not giving you console for free, you have to pay money and where money is involved you have think wisely before spending it otherwise you are an idiot.

Moderated,

The answer is NO we can´t trust Microsoft but neither can we trust Sony.

Both companies would gladly fuck us in the ass and not even pay for dinner. Those are huge corporations and not our friends and the only reason that Sony is changing their course so drasticly is to stay competitive. Do you really think Sony hasn´t discussed the very sam policies until Microsoft has suffered such a huge backlash. Don´t be naive kids

He's being cautious about his not-so-cheap long term investment. Remember Sega Saturn and how owners got stuck? Then dreamcast came and people were like, can we trust Sega?

So please remove the tree trunk lodged in your ass.

I never did trust them. The writing been on the wall forever now. I'm just glad more people opened their eyes to the situation. They will bring it back, it isn't gone forever, they are getting stomped in preorder sales and that's the only reason they did a 180, hoping to get the console off the ground, once that happens ( If ) then it will back on. Count on it.

And just because they flipped the switch off doesn't set things right, how could it? Kinda like your girlfriend setting up a date with another dude and back out at the last min when she finds out you know about it. It's not any better.

did MS ever really care about HD DVD?

...i always thought what little support they put behind HD DVD was just to prevent sony from being too successful with blu ray and the ps3.

Nobody demanded Linux, Nobody missed Linux and Sony didn't create Hype about it but policies are another thing, you are saying something else and doing something else mean while stabing in the back of fanbase.

No you just made that up.

A policy is a strategy, a strategy can and should be changed according to consumer demand.

Consumers didn't demand Linux support be removed.

Consumers demanded extreme DRM be removed - and it now has.

You should be congratulatiing Microsoft.

...Actually, I feel embarresed just replying really, you must have more concrete argument than this to justify such statements?

Spot on.

All companies are here to make profit for shareholders within the remit of the law. Saying anything otherwise is just being biased and ridiculously ignorant.

HD DVD was much more open and superior format to Bluray in terms of actual technology. If you know what BD-Java is you'll understnad.

HD DVD died because it didn't have enough encryption and anti-consumer technology for the movie studios.

Your username is ironic considering this.

You're going to have to do a much more subtle and factual troll post to receive congratulations instead of me reporting you.

Not to mention in previous media ventures SONY failed, beta, mini disc etc..

Also I think the moneyhatting that Sony offered to Fox in the final hour is what caused the BluRay format to be HD DVD. Because whn they signed on exclusively everyone followed.

Don't get emotional, and remember that they didn't listen to community, they are afraid that if they don't change their policy, they will lose sales.
