They have only one game with the Ps3, Heavy Rain. Perhaps they pull an Uncharted 2 with 3EYOND, and considering Heavy Rain is a pretty damn good looking game, they could beat themselves and everyone else.

I would say arguably. It's not a very clear step up over GoW:A, U3, or KZ3. It exceeds them in some (Character models, both protagonists and enemies for example) but is worse in others sometimes (some textures look bland) although I have to admit I didn't finish it yet so I haven't seen everything they've got.
Overall I think all those games listed are on par and it would end up to personal taste, every choice would be valid in my opinion. And I agree with Wright, Beyond TS will clearly look better than them, thus claiming the best looking console game of 7th generation crown! ;-P

It really really does and looks even more stunning in the cut-scenes, I guess they give a hint of what the actual gameplay will look like on PS4

It does set the mood very well and it sure is a really good game. Textures and geometry are only just above average though. In technical sense it's not even in the top 10 of this console generation.

PC gaming has spoiled my eyes. I wish I could appreciate the game's visuals but it doesn't look that great to me, sadly. It looks really good though, but the only game that's surpasses God of War 3 in my honest opinion would be God of War Ascension.

I disagree with Digital Foundry. Although I guess it all depends on what aspects of the visual design you choose to focus.

I don't think it's possible to have high-res textures in a game like The Last of Us because the video memory of the PS3 is being maxed out. This comes with the design of the game and considering that, TLOU is among the top this generation. However, when ignoring the open game design and high level of detail and judging the game purely on a visual level, it falls short from many earlier released games like God of War and Halo 4. These games' designs allow for sharper textures, more advanced lighting effects and higer polygon models which all result in a higer visual fidelity.

I found Halo 4, Uncharted 3, God of War ascension all more impressive. I still think Uncharted 2 had the best level of beautiful graphics and good IQ for this gen.

The game needs a PS4 port pretty badly. It can look poor in motion at times.
