Forums - Sony - DF (Eurogamer) Hands-on with PS4

"When it comes to the state of software development on PS4, the situation as it stands is surprising. On the one hand, freely playable first-party titles such as Knack and DriveClub suffer from noticeable frame-rate stutters down from 30fps, while on the other, "hands off" demos for the new Infamous and Assassin's Creed games appear to run without a perceptible hitch. This is in stark contrast to the playable software confirmed to be running direct from Xbox One hardware, such as Forza Motorsport 5 and Killer Instinct, which benefit to no end for targeting the 1080p60 gold standard, and largely succeed in doing so."

Software running HP desktop with nvidia cards 1080p60 gold standard - confirmed.

Well, I think the all-praised ps4-hardware raised expectations which this article counters. Games still look good but to me it's no news to say "everything looked great" when ps4 is set to dominate in every way imaginable.

And infamous? Wait, I saw something on GAF ... Oh yeah, that's it:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=64821861&postcount=1113

I never said that Infamous didn't have any framerate issues or pop in, the things you're linking to on GAF I pointed them out myself in another thread.  I'm saying that Digital Foundry mentioned that they noticed no pop in and no frame drops in what they've watched.

Also the texture pop in segments are very few and the game was announced for 2014.

What I stated still stands.  Your posts cherry pick information so it's beneficial to you and your opinion.

*edit*

We all do, of course. The game has technical issues by now and to me this is definitely not one of the best-looking games. As I said before this is only opinion and can't be judged objectively, that's why I like tech-talk more. At least it had a constant frame-rate and DR3 hadn't.

no worries, keep your opinion :)

lol what games were more impressive in graphics terms than these two? Share your "opinion".

To me by far the best was MGSV. It looked absolutely gorgeous. Second to this I have to say Forza5. Fluid gameplay at 1080p60 and decent AA, looks like Turn10 is quite ready for launch - seems at least more than others (including MS-titles). I also liked watchdogs a lot.

And another misinformed person... :) Somehow sad that ppl believe repeating false facts would make them true.

60fps matters this Gen. If these consoles can't hit 1080p and 60fps for every game then they shouldn't have been released. Next Gen hasn't even started yet and compromises are already being made. We aren't talking about Halo on the 360. Its funny if any negative thing about Playstation is mentioned the Sony fans come to the rescue and defend it but they sure like to pile on when its Xbox related. You can dish it out bit you can't take it.

These consoles can do 1080p/60FPS. Some devs prefer 30FPS with better graphics. It requries less optimization and its perfect for launch games

You're trying to find negative PS4 news and I'm sorry to tel you this isn't it. You can't compare Forza 5 to Driveclub. You can't compare Killer Instinct to anything on PS4 at the moment. You can't compare Killzone Shadow Fall to anything on Xbox one yet. No one is being defensive here, we're just using common sense.

Xbone stronger than Ps4 confirmed!

All jokes aside, i've read in another hands-on review that KZ really wasn't that impressive. And most Ps4 games were seemingly behind Xbone games when it came to graphics. Wonder how this will turn out.

The behind closed doors, off-the-record talk is that the PS4 is running hot.  Hence why you saw the issues with the two games at E3.  Apparently the GDDR5 memory is the source of the heat problem.

Got a link to the story of the PS4 running hot?

I have a source.  I don't have a link to a story, no.  Like I said, the behind closed doors, off-the-record talk is that the PS4 is running hot due to the GDDR5 memory.

It is one my main concerns, why do you think MS went for the big box? They don't want to make the same mistake they did with the first X360. I really hope PS4 doesn't end up to noisy.

Yeah you said it's a concern. The poster I quoted stated that it was common knowledge that the PS4 had heat problems. I'd like a link to see. It would be worrying now if it's true as Sony are supposed to begin production soon.

Bigger doesn't always mean cooler. If it has bad airflow a big design will be just as hot as a small design. Once the heatsinks have good surface area to spread the heat I wouldn't worry about it. Sony is usually pretty good at packing as much is as possible. All the PS3 were crambed into the cases and they all ran cool.

I never once suggested it was common knowledge.  How the fuck did you get common knowledge from "the behind closed doors, off-the-record talk" do you get common knowledge?

I apologize. I was making stuff up and exaggerating to feel part of the ruse.

The best graphics of the show were running in PS4 hardware... inFAMOUS and The Division... the games that came close to that was running into overpowerd PCs lol.

What game on Xbone showed better graphics?

In your opinion.
