Does anyone no where there is anymore details regarding the 80 mini games that will be in Wii Party U?
I never played the wii version, but i was hoping this version would have games like checkers, chess and air hockey that you play on the gamepad. I remember when the WiiU was first shown at E3 and it showed people playing checkers on the gamepad and thought it would be cool if there were like an app store or game that you could download and play games like this.

Wii Party had mainly mini-games a la Mario Party, there were some interactions made for younger kids such as hide and seek or listening for sounds with the Wiimotes, this is similar to the "Twister" section shown in the first Wii Party U footage this January.

The new stuff are the two player mini-games that are playable only on the Gamepad. The baseball/football games shown in January or the slot car racing one during E3.

I believe that only a handful of those 80 games will be these kind of Gamepad "board" minigames, the majority are going to be the for the regular kind. Maybe you'll get more of these board-mini-games like an air hockey; but for slower/thinking requiring ones like checkers or chess a home console version of Clubhouse Games (42 All-Time Classics) would be much more appropriate.

I don't like the idea of the Wii U Pad for Party games. It's a good concept, but I already have a phone. Nintendo can put their money to better use. Imagine an RPG game with the Wii U Pad.

Sounds like this clubhouse games would of been a good game to release with the console pre installed or as a digital download, may or interested more casual gamers also.

One doesn't rule out the other. it's important to have enough for every public.

True, but if they focus their commercials on that aspect it might put people off. They won't cram all the Wii U party games in 30 seconds and most probably will focus on the gamepad gameplay. I personally think it's very uninspired.

If it uses the Gamepad is similar ways that NintendoLand and Rabbids Land used, then it may become a great party game. The Wii version had some fun modes and it sold A LOT more than anyone predicted,
I just think that this game has not the potential to drive console sales

They had plans for pre-installed software... and that turned into Game and Wario.

Maybe your Reversi board game would have come if they didn't convert those 2011 E3 demos into Wario.
