Wii Party had mainly mini-games a la Mario Party, there were some interactions made for younger kids such as hide and seek or listening for sounds with the Wiimotes, this is similar to the "Twister" section shown in the first Wii Party U footage this January.
The new stuff are the two player mini-games that are playable only on the Gamepad. The baseball/football games shown in January or the slot car racing one during E3.
I believe that only a handful of those 80 games will be these kind of Gamepad "board" minigames, the majority are going to be the for the regular kind. Maybe you'll get more of these board-mini-games like an air hockey; but for slower/thinking requiring ones like checkers or chess a home console version of Clubhouse Games (42 All-Time Classics) would be much more appropriate.
