Forums - Sony - You won't be able to play your games if Sony shuts down their servers ( PSplus)

This is why I dont buy digital games from Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo. Physical copies ftw!

PS+ and games you BUY on PSN are two very different things.

Games you buy digitally are yours foverer.  PS+ games remain functional as long as you keep your subscription.

I don't get the point of the thread honestly.

I can't believe people are trying to spin this in so many different ways just to make MS look better or something?

Sony aren't saints, nobody is saying that. But their policies are no where close to what MS is doing as of right now.

This has gone beyond console allegiance...How is it that people cant see that?????

I see a lot of people hating on the Xbox One and saying you won't be able to play your games anymore if their servers go down. But the same can be said about PSplus. If the service ends you will lose all your games. Now your answer will be " yes, but Sony would do something about it, they would give you your games at that moment". But the same can be said about Microsoft, they can unlock your games if the service expires.

Conclusion: The argument about not being able to play your games anymore is flawed

You've made one big omission here, while true that all PS+ games will become dead when Sony pulls the plug, I can STILL play disc based games just like I can on PS3, PS2, PS1... BUT on the XBOX one, if Microsoft pulls the plug, not only do you lose access to all digital games but also lose access to ALL disc based games...it would make the Xbox one...one giant expensive brick.

This is the key difference that has people up in arms, and rightly so.

Games gotten through PS+ are basically rented games
Games bought digitally on PSN is yours to use and will remain so even after PSN is shut down as long as they are on your harddrive
Physical games are yours to use no matter what happens

Both physical and digital XBone games are attached to an account that needs to be validated every 24 hours, once those servers are gone there is no way to validate and ALL your games are useless

I will never buy another sony console ever!!!

"goes on to play Uncharted"

One really wonderful thing about PS+ is that when you cancel your sub, you don't actually lose all your PS+ games, you lose access to them. If you renew your subscription whenever, you get all of them back.

OP is obviously trolling and making stuff up

What a load of bull. You should be banned for spreading this nonsense. But I guess they don't ban people for dribbling nonsense.

You don't have to check-in online to be able to play your PS+ content. Once you download the content, it's yours to keep even if you don't go online EVER AGAIN. Now if PS+ shuts down, you aren't losing anything since you were renting the games to begin with, LMAO. But you do keep all your purchases.

This is why you have Blu Ray. All consoles are running Blu Ray now.

I'm not getting into this topic but ALL media deteriorates over time, Bluray is no different.  Unless you keep your games in a air sealed UV protected safe they will deteriorate eventually.  This is a bonkers reason to not want physical media though.

I mean sure...if you want to come at your Blu Ray with a blow torch, worst case scenario. LOL All consoles are up to date now and using Blu Ray so, there shouldnt really be much of an issue and trading games on the merit of the quality of disc that you're using.

This reminded me of my Assassin's creed (PS3) game that was left inside the car that is always parked outside to bake under the sun. It was sat on, used as a freesbie, that made is unhinged inside the case and also used as a blunt object by my cousins against each other. It actually got a small scratch from all that abuse but it still works to this day.
