Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft is future proofing you with DRM

The good guy like, Xbone will be backward compatible with xbox 360 and MS not been part of PRISM?  and not forcing kinect into consumers? that would be a great, if it were true.

Anyway you had not argument agains any of my points, historial evidence still stands, everythings points at them abandoning their fans as the common practice.

Sony has gakai, for backwards compatibility, MS instead build and infrastructor for DRM, so instead of using their resources in the benefit of gamers the used them for screwing gamers. You say MS could have something like Gakai, but if that does not exist already if could take them years to implement, prooving that is not part of their goal to have that support, like it is for sony.

Oh and by the way, you will not convince anyone, the only thing that will someone buy an xbone is emotional attachment to the brand, nothing else.

You are buying the disc and the case, with a license. You are getting a free license or a free CD and case. You decide which one is free.

You are right about those other forms of media, but this hasn't been done before on a system wide method in home consoles. "Every Xbox One game you buy from theday one will come with digital rights." There is no fragmentation where if they choose to have it or not. This is a benefit.

How is taking away choice a benefit?  I think I'd prefer to choose between a physical copy I can freely share or sell and a digital copy that is tied to my account.  I think I can live with my digital versions not coming with a worthless CD and case.  They could even still put out a version with the disc and cd-key for people who want a digital copy but don't want to/can't download it.  They'd even get their 'free' CD.

So, making your beloved fans buy the same game again to play them is a sign that they love us?

@ Luiskpx

at least you have a choice, what is the choice MS is giving?

Xbox one is a good way to force people into upgrading into the next iteration of your games, just close the servers and people will have no choice but to purchase the new version of your games, it's genious, if you are not a consumer

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

They can just keep their 360s? I will keep my ps3 for sure, i think we got a a little off topic here.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy Xbox One, buy what you want. It's your money. I'm just trying to explain the possible benefits of the DRM system. Like I said, I'm not a fan of the 24 hour check-in. You just gotta live with it if you think the digital rights benefit you. If later down the road MS re-evalutes their DRM policy, because it isn't working out, then good.

This just in.....Xbox: The Second Coming.... is not backwards compatible.

Either is PS4... What's your point?

Before you say Gakai, that is playing streamed from a server. MS can do that too, if they choose. Personally I wouldnt use it, streaming video in HD is a bandwidth hog.

From what i get from the OP is that this is good because the next console will be able to have a very old library next gen....ie. backwards compatible electronicaly ......which more than likely is a false remark so when the next console after xbone.....which i called "the second coming"    All they have to do is announce that it's not backwards compatible which will just toss this claim out of the water....considering the last few gens this isn't very far outside the realm of possibility.

This might be pure speculation, but if games are tied to your account it could be like steam, change hardware, OS, but the service (xbox live) and your account with all your games will be there, ready to download and play
