Unfortunately, you have to quit to the XMB or turn your PS3 off. There is no way you can save your data.

Had to restart. I am very pissed off with this I absolutely hate wasting time (which is why I avoid ps3 games with their install BS), but I only got up to the bit where the firefly lady takes you to the weapons.
As good as the intro is, I can be arsed to play it again so I'll get my sister to replay it.
If it's a problem with servers, maybe disconnecting from the internet is worth a try. Or could it be that you can only save when you're connected? That would be some interesting kind of always on^^

We've addressed the autosave issue, it was related to servers on our end. Please quit to XMB and restart the game. SP and MP are OK to play!

well doing an all nighter then
from what I heard from people on Gaf was to download the patch(1.01) and play completely offline...about 4-5 hours in, so far so good.
