To me it sounds like the old rebate "scam".  Even when rebates are thousands of dollars... a lot of the time people just won't send them in.   Regular people, not just real people.

Are you implying that this is a scam? Who moderates the moderators?

Looking at MS track record over all anyone taking this at face value is kidding themselves. Also this was released before E3 as a PR effort to win back support of its customers, and is not currently implemented, but it might be easily implemented. More to the point though it most likely will not be supported by most 3rd party games, and I'm curious how many first party titles will allow this feature as well.

If anyone was swayed to purchase the X1 because of the fam10 plan, then you should seriously wait until the details are perfectly clear about what you can and can't do with this system.

As a long time 360 owner, I can confirm that MS has always had pretty flexible DRM. For instance on the 360 any account can use downloaded content and games, and the registering account can use that content anywhere that it's signed in. Which is more flexible than the PS3's register to 5 or now 2 consoles, or the Wii's only one console ever.

MS has also had a family account setup for some years, so again, this doesn't surprise me. It seems to be a fair trade-off in my opinion.

First good thing I hear about XB1, though I'm allmost confident this will be made difficult by ms to combat friends just sharing their libraries. This is like free pirating for 10 people. :D

The content downloaded onto the ps3 can also be used by any account on the system, (unless you set up parental control), but the ability to use your account and its linked content on any system sounds like a great feature.

Just to clarify: you can effectively download your digital content on to hundreds of xbox360's and once you do that you can use that content freely on that device? or is it 1 main console with fully unlocked content, and the ability to sign in to your username/gt on any other x3 and use your content as long as your are logged in (offline as well)??

Either way if you were already planning on getting an X1 its good to have some icing on the cake, but I would still be leery of any MS promises at this point as it was really a PR response more than anything.

Seems you didn't actually read the post.

Rebates create value for the company vs  a price drop because while interesting to a lot of people, most people really won't use it as much as you think.

Just like here, where people think "Omg everyone is going to get 10 times the library for the price."  When in reality, that will happen for almost nobody.  Your average person getting much less sharing value out of it.

Point was.  Like a $100 rebate.  It's not actually costing a retailer $100 per sale.

I can clarify it's the second scenario, which is slightly more flexible than say Steam. TBH I'm not really super-interested in either the X1 or PS4 for the time-being, but the DRM handling doesn't seem to be a major hurdle to my accepting the X1 platfrom in the future.

Why are sony fans so angry at MS for giving us this family sharing stuff? No one is forcing you to buy an XB one. Be happy with your Poor-station 4 and ignore any MS-XB related topics

Because DRM is supposed to be evil and have no real benefits for the consumer.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
