Forums - Microsoft - Forza 5. Holy Crap Showfloor Gameplay. WOOOOWWW

Holy crap 32 seconds loading a race and the game is installed.

Nothing special, GRID 2 and Project CARS are at least on par with it.

Looks average to me. Pretty much the same as every other Forza: boring gameplay but looks pretty.
And that's not hating on it because it's Xbox. I feel the exact same way about Gran Turismo. Boring gameplay but EROMG L00kZ S0 PRETTY.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

If you told me that was a 360 game i would not call you a liar. I put it down to the videos poor quality.

Cars that aren't on the screen don't get rendered, so have a 0 polygon count. As you get closer to the cars the LOD increases so by the time you're near them they are at max LOD and look great, but the further away you get the lower the LOD, because you don't needlessly render unseeable detail. If PD don't have varying LOD then they are seriously wasting processing power.

Yeap... my point is GT5 didn't swap LOD models in races or anything else... is the same mod for all modes (inclusing the Photo Model). Forza swap LOD models for everything even when you have 1 or more cars in the race... with 1 car in the race it uses the same Photo Mode LOD with 4xAA and with 16 cars it use a way low LOD model... the Autovista LOD have close to 1 million polygon.

Edit - GT5 change the effects and AA used over the cars models for different Game Modes like the Photo Mode is way more polished than the Race one but the model and numbers polygon is the same.

Day 1 purchase. Any video of KI from E3?

LOL.

Thats the best visuals Ive ever seen. The lighting is unbelieveable. The draw distance and quality of detailed scenery makes Forza 4 and GT6 look so bad it isnt even funny.

Look at the GT6 shot in this thread. It looks bare, bland and the lighting what we thought was good looks seriously bad in FM4 and GT6.

First: Thanks for the link!

BUT:
Please, ethomaz, you don't want to tell me that GT5 renders cars witl 500k polys if they are far away. This is stupid, unnecessary and a waste of computing time (in devs view). It doesn't make anythink look better, too, *because* it's far away.

Example:

In no way the first car (the most distant one) is rendered with 500k polys.

From what I know it is the same.

Enter into a 16 cars race (choose only premium cars)... get close the cars and you will see all have the same quality... you can do that with online friends (so you ask to left you get close)... all cars in the race are the same quality.

And I did a test now... the same car used in the Phone Mode is used in Race Mode... even the interior is the same.

There are a lot of discussion about that in GAF and seems like there are no LOD change in GT5... for any car.

From what I *see* it's not. I don't say they don't have the same quality but, again, *every* game does occlusion culling, for example. And every game does lod with different models. It is useless to discuss about it: you can clearly see that in my pic the car doesn't have 500k polys so there is another model of the car used. Why should GT5 do it otherwise?

Please give me a link to thread on GAF...

I subscribe.

P.S. This poly stuff is so relative....

Ex Graphics Whore.

Yikes way too much crap about GT5 in here. Yes, all games pull off tricks to make photomode and replays look better than actual gameplay. It's understood.

Those videos look pretty incredible. Especially the lighting in the cockpit view in the first video.
