Forums - Website Topics - Who is tired of VGC or wants a better community?

I thought you left. Was it all talk?

Please name this mystery community which is more mature and has less trolling than VGC. I'd love to check it out.

N4G?

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

I'm so sick of (insert disliked company) fans, always attacking us reasonable and mature (insert preferred company) fans!

Honestly though, it's not like this website is designed to attract fans of one company and repel fans of another. How VGC is now is pretty much a true reflection of how much support the big three are getting from hardcore gamers. I can't think of a website that is better than VGC, if anybody else can then they're free to leave. The mods are very strict anyway and are clamping down on bad behaviour that drags reasonable discussions down into shit flinging contests.

I assume you are asking me Kantor, and I will say none.  This isnt just a problem with VGC but with the internet as a whole.

Before I answer the question, Id like to put this out -

Firstly, this is a forum that focuses on videogames.

Secondly, VGChartz itself promotes a competitive attitude, due to it being a sales site at heart. It brings people who care more about a platform and a company, more than "videogames" in general.

Add both of these things together and you get a lot of immaturity. You get a lot of fanboys. You get a lot of people on the attack and on the defensive, rather than a lot of people simply talking about how they love videogames. Certain people embarrass certain other people.

This forum has always been the same. It always will be the same. At times things happen in the industry that impacts a certain userbase. Wii and DS killed everything, Nintendo fans were at large trolling shit. Xbox 360 sold incredibly well when Kinect launched, there was a lot of Xbox fans on the forums trolling shit. PS3 started to outsell the competition, we got a lot of PlayStation fans pouring in and trolling shit.

Right now, PlayStation is on the rise again and Microsoft are acting like the Sony of 2006 that got ridiculed. PS3 just outsold the 360. The Last of Us is releasing as the best reviewed game of the last 2 Years. This means that right now, there are a lot of very loud, obnoxious PlayStation fans trolling the shit out of everything they can - The main target being Xbox. When this happens, you get the usual Xbox apologists popping up and trying to downplay anything the competition has, to counter the competition.

At the same time, we have Nintendo fans hating Nintendo.

I know you said the thread isnt about fanbases, but I dont care because the fanbases are relevant to any topic regarding the community. VGChartz itself is centered around fanbases and the community that you talk about is a community full of different fanbases. This is a videogame forum that centers itself around the hardware sales of 3 companies, where anyone can join the conversation at any time they want.

When you join a site like VGChartz, you should know what youre getting yourself into.

To answer the question - No. Im not tired of the community. It could be better, it could be worse. There are better communities on the Internet and there are far, far worse communities on the internet.

We have a good thing going here. We have good conversation here. We have reasonable posters. We have comedians. We have techies. We have good mods. We have new people joining at the same time as we have older users leaving. We have older users returning for big news and the server crashed during E3 for the first time in Years.

VGChartz has something for everyone and its great, despite the odd hiccup.

Tired? Not really, I'm in a period where I find it somewhat satisfying to post in here again, looking forward to new consoles, the 7th gen is/was getting very slow and boring.

I am annoyed by the sheer number of duplicate threads though, a lof of subjects have multiple threads with each one getting a decent amount of replies, it disperses the users and fragments the debate and it's truly annoying.
Another type of thread that annoys me is the one I'm posting in now, threads complaining about the community, mods or specific fanbases are thirteen on the dozen and are getting old now.
People who are displeased are free to leave as membership or active participation is not mandatory, I find that a lot of members disappear after their predictions and attitudes are left wanting as tides turn.
Plenty of insufferable members have gone from the forums after making themselves look foolish with arrogant assumptions and mockery of other peoples opinions, these are good riddance, mostly.

One thing is for certain; the term revolving around other sides and green grass is befitting this topic, you won't find a perfect community anywhere on the web, all sites and forums have morons, assholes, trolls and everything in between and I find vgchartz to be among the more civilized out there despite bickering and childish discussions running rampant at times.

Long story short; deal with it. *sunglasses descending and then settling on post*

What are these communities? Other than a few game-specific forums, every community I have visited has been ten times worse than VGChartz.

That part was more personal preference. Im on a few other forums under several usernames, there are a few where I find the community to be simply better.

Less hostility, more games. Different discussion, not focused on videogames.

That said, I dont have over 50,000 posts on any other forum and VGChartz will always have a special place in my heart <3

What forums?

hmm. community doesn't seem that bad. It isn't really good/safe to be a Microsoft fan on the web right now though. This site in particular make up of mostly sony and nintendo fans too. There's is also alot of ammo for trolls can use against microsoft right now too. The duplicate thread are annoying though.
