Forums - Nintendo - So about Wii U sales this christmas

Will Wii U sell better this christmas with only this game as system seller?

Of course! 71 40.80%

No 52 29.89%

Is this for 3DS? 10 5.75%

Why is Retro working on DK?! 40 22.99%

Total:173

Going to be a lackluster sales event for the Wii U this holiday. I look at the gamecube in 2003 for the holiday season and they were able to push 3.8 million units with and thats with the gamecube priced at $149, mario kart double dashed released, wind waker and mario party 5 released also. Had full 3rd party support also.

Dont see any of that for 2013.

Nintendo is dropping so many balls that makes me wonder how they will recoup.... That IS a sucky company. They messed up the launch, they messed up the Spring and Summer. Not until August is it getting some solid releases - but they don't have a HUGE game until Mario Kart NEXT year. They've dun gunn messed up the first entire YEAR (and then some)

3D World counts as a huge game.

Either way, when we're talking about the 5-million tier, who among the competition even has individual games that can fight that? There's not much

3D World does not count as a huge game on Wii U. Mario Universe would have been far more fitting. Do something on Wii U that CAN'T be done on 3DS...

quite with this bullshit already. Regardless whether you like the game or not. Super Mario 3D world is going to sell well and it is going to sell the Wii U. It may not be the blockbuster like galaxy it will do the job well

I believe WiiU Party was Fall 2013 and Wiifit U was Winter 2013 so yes, they will be available by the time of the holidays.

As long as they are both in 2013, before Christmas, the Wii U will do fine to well this Holiday Season.

Weren't both of thsoe delayed though?

People keep claiming that GameCube had full third party support, and i keep laughing at that.

Though your other points are more valid. It'll be interesting to see what else Nintendo has up their sleeves.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Yes, it will sell quite well - but that's not what Wii U needs right now. It needs another Galaxy. This is more or less Super Mario 3D Land 2.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I think they'll improve, but not by much without a price cut.

Also, to the people who are undermining 3D World, as disappointing it may be to you, the consumers would eat this up a lot quicker and help the Wii U gain more funds for a full 3D Mario game in the future.

They were supposed to release this summer. Now delayed until Fall and Winter. (From what I've been told.)

And holy crap! There are some melt-downs going on for sure!

They did have full third party support.  They had 4 exclusive capcom games (for the time), had full versions of all EA games, released on time, full ubisoft support (even their M rated games), konami with twin snakes...

you cant tell me by looking at their 2003 releases they had partly 3rd party support, they didnt.

Given Wii U's current sales they have to make the system sell at all cost. It's the same situation as the 3DS (although not having Mario Kart along side 3D Mario might be an issue). Nintendo needs to make the system sell, I hardly think they care if 3D Mario pushes the Wii U's power, there are other tittles for that job.

And that's exactly the problem with Nintendo. This one and NSMBU look as a rush product, just to release and see how many sales it could get, unlike Galaxy.

SMG was and it's still awesome, and continue selling. It is a system seller. This just looks like a cash-in game. It is like NSMBU-2.
