I am happy. Any game from Retro gets me excited. Kind of surprised that people were overjoyed when they announced they were doing it on the Wii but now hate Retro that they are doing a sequel on the Wii U.

First time around it was genuinely exciting and shocking for Retro to do this, second time around we've had years (literally) of rumours about new ip's, and letting them do what they want, etc. We keep telling ourselves that Retro is the new Rare, and Retro will do what Nintendon't, but its a business.

Retro are actually the new Rare, under the control and will power of a massive force (MS), where they do what they're told and they don't have a choice.

QFT!!

Donkey Kong is all nice and dandy, but it won't convince me to buy the actual system!

It convinces me to buy the system.

I  was going to wait for X, Bayonetta 2, and Yarn Yoshi, but I can't pass up the sequel to one of the best 2D platformers ever made.

its OK i guess but a fully 3D DKC N64 style would be much better

so what about metroid is it even alive ?

I fail to see the comparison. Retro hasn't made a bad game yet, and Rare hasn't made a really good one in over a decade.

Plus Retro's projects have always been chosen by their superiors. If I recall, DKCR was probably the first game they actually were really wanting to make, and it so happened that Miyamoto wanted a DKC as well.

Unexpected but not bad, I thought DKC: Returns was the best 2D platformer I've ever played so more of the same can only be a good thing.

And let me get this: Retro hired developers, artist, designers, including some that worked in Virgil and Naughty Dog, to make this game?

DKCR is one of my favorite games this generation, so I'm not disappointed.

yes, yes I am, though I doubt that's the only thing they are working on.

Sure, Retro hired people from inferior studios, but that shouldn't make you worried about the quality of this game. I am confident that the new guys will live up to the standard that is expected from them.

I doubt it, considering DK is pure 2D platform and bright colors compared to the kind of games they were involved. MP4 would have been a better fit. Way of wasting resources and time teaching those newbies how to work properly instead of using their potential in something they have already experience.

This game was actually the brightest spot of the direct.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

So thrilled! I ADORED Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii, bought it back on 3DS, so I'm really happy Retro did Tropical Freeze! I wanted actually a new DKC, it's been a while since he hadn't been so important in our gaming industry. Welcome back, DK ;')
