Sorry, but you expected a Mario game to push the hardware? Like the zero times this has happened before? |
Actually, Super Mario Bros. 3 pushed the NES to the limit and did a lot of things that was thought impossible to do on NES, like diagonal scrolling. And I think we can agree that the Galaxy games pushed the Wii hardware pretty hard.
well it wasn't what I expected but 3Dland is amazing so this will be amazing as it follows the same way of gameplay plus 4 player co-op will be awesome!!
I wasn't wawed at all though

It doesn't look like garbage and it actually looks really good, but no where near the level of what I was expecting and I am equally disappointed about Retro
the first 3D Mario on the Wii U was expected to define the Wii U even graphically. Does this do that? I dont know. That's up to the fans to decide.
Anyone who thinks this is the next 3D Mario adventure is hopelessly mistaken.....

So there's another one? I want to remind you that Iwata announced this as the next 3D Action Adventure Mario game during the January ND.

Did he call it the next definitive 3D Action Adventure Mario game? No he did not, and of course he'll make 3DWorld's upcoming announcement sound better than what it is.
I'm not saying 3DW looked bad, it looked great, but it doesn't take a rocket science degree to realize that this is not the next 3D Mario in the main Mario branch. After all it's a sequel to a handheld game. When is the last time a major 3D Mario adventure on a home console was a successor to a handheld game? That's right, never.

There wasn't a 3D Mario handheld game before. And it sounds logic that Nintendo invest resources in 3D Land + 3D World instead of two diferent projects given the HD dev costs and hanheld ones increasing, and all that.

Main 3D Mario and the Zelda series are two games that get FULL backing by Nintendo in terms of budget and resources. I'm talking 60-man orchestras here!!!!
Again, the quote from Iwata in January of this year:
“Take The Legend of Zelda franchise, for example, the fans must be looking for the graphic representations that they do not see as cheap at all when the title is released for the Wii U. When it is necessary, we do not hesitate to role out our resources.”
