Metaknight is just too good. He's a way better character than DDD is, so he's harder. When I play against a metaknight with Marth, I just hope they kill themselfs or do something stupid. Maybe marth just can't beat metaknight. I'm pretty sure the metaknight's I lose to I wouldn't have any trouble with my metaknight.

Negative nancy =/ I certainly don't think that when a Meta is sitting in front of my Dedede. Giving up before the fights even started just ensures your defeat sooner then need be. Its far better to attempt and know you tried then to just take the loss right away. Hell if you try hard enough you may even win. Don't pretend you've gone undefeated against everyone here with Meta Knight, even top tiers lose to the lowers occasionally. Dedede CAN beat Meta Knight, its just an uphill battle. Marth can beat him too, its just uphill.

Clearly.. Snake is god... For the people that notice the numberings not quite right, Link, Yoshi, and Ness haven't placed well at all since this list was started... months ago... Meta Knight may be good, but Snakes apparently in a league all of his own (Damn him and his broken grenade and ground game).

For those puzzled about the point values they're based not only on tournament placing but tournament size as well. Larger tournaments are obviously given more weight. This list is also based on mains only, secondaries not taken into account. Mains are used most often but sometimes people will counterpick characters =/ I fight Snake with Pikachu for instance, I can win with Dedede but with Pikachu its just soooo much easier. Snakes however from what I've seen, rarely if ever counterpick characters. I have seen Meta Knights switch out for Pikachus, Sonics (yes, I did a wtf at that one too), R.O.B.s and DKs against Snake and Dedede (I just laugh at this) for DK.

For zhe record, Dedede is NOT that bad... just look how high the obese penguin is placing! <3 my Penguin. If anything, make fun of my lolPikachu <.< I'm kind of tired of people asking me why the hell I'd play him when theres so many better characters...(sooo many people ask me this all over the place) -.- Don't make me post my book of why Dedede's the best again!

For anyone new: Don't pick your character because of this list. Pick who your comfortable with and you'll do far better then if you just pick Snake because he's 'god'. Comfort is a foundation to skill in this game. If your not comfy using the character, your going to suck hard with him for a long long time. <.<

lucas should be higher than that imo. but i guess he is never used becasue of the chain grabing thing. and ness isn't on the list at all. -_-U

 

Bleh... I fail at sleeping.

Sadly, Lucas isn't used much at all and it shows on tournament rankings. I've been to tournaments where he isn't used at all, even in friendlies. Once they found out the grab release trick against Lucas and Ness they went from contenders to flat out dead. People HAVE found ways out of it though and narrowed down the list of people that can do it to about 4 or 5 (Dedede isn't one of them! *Gasp*).

Not a lot of popularity for the Mother series as a whole in America either as a lot of its games weren't even translated for the US =/ Most people flock to the series characters they're most familiar with or the character that appeals most to them. Who really looks (as in first glance) at Ness and Lucas and thinks "Now theirs some appealing and original character design!". They have to be some of the most generic looking characters ever. <.<

That list was actually modified since the old one was found to be skewed since it didn't account for tournament size nor discriminate between notable or scrub tournaments.

I'm so tired of fighting spamming pikachus :(
It is no fun at all, they just spam his electric thing and then charge me as they get closer. His thunder attack is cheap, if your opponent is above you you can just spam it until they die. I just suicide if I fight a pikachu.....
