He just said that the price and drm policies weren't  in response to Ms's announcements, not that they would take advantage of  it ,so he's really talking about the ensuing silence and saying it wasn't because them making up their minds , rather they decided to wait to E3 to reveal there plans because it would have a greater impact, or his words have some fun,

The only reason they even brought up the Used games and online DRM was because of MS. If MS wasn't doing that Sony wouldn't have included it in the conference because it is assumed.

They definitely highlighted their DRM policies after the X1 debacle. It would normally be something you comment after the conference, just like they did with the reveal.

They said this right away after the reveal in february. It was just that the internet and M$ gave them the oportunity to exploit that; because everyone thought that M$ would be (is) too stupid to be the anti-costumer police alone.
