Forums - Sony - PS Eye may not be bundled with every PS4. Sold separately

Sony will make a big mistake if new PSeye does not bundle with every PS4, cause if not every PS4 owner have it will end up not much developers willing to utilize its features for their games, then it will be doom for sure since new kinect are bundle with every XboxONE...

if it were to sold seperately might as well stop this project cause it will end up being neglected like the PS3 motion games...

whoever says not going to pay extra $$$ for motion control gaming at all make sure you don't buy XboxONE... ok?

That's brilliant then ! You don't need every developer forcing you into using totally pointless gimmicky crap just cause it was bundled in.

You just need 2 or 3 developers who will make the run of the mill Dance/ Fitness/ Sport game to utilise it.

Sounds like Sony is doing everything Microsoft isn't :)

interesting.

i like that it would lower the price. i don't like that it means developers won't give it serious support. i like that it means the ps4 will function without the camera active. i don't like that whatever features the camera supports can't be mandatory.

...so tie break goes to: what does the camera do? i await further explanation to come to a decision.

Good way to render it useless. If devs can't rely on it always being there then they wont support it much.

Seems odd given the dual shock integration.

No idea how this can be perceived as a good plan.

Let's be honest here. Does anyone even care about the Pseye?

No accessories like that haven't kinected with gamers shockingly

Good, I don't have enough space as it is, the less accessories the better.

I think that the PS Eye should be bundled with every PS4 because it ensures that the entire PS4 user base has access to all of the camera's features. While I personally do not have much interest in motion controlled gaming, I still think that it is important for every PS4 to have the device, because it assures the developers that they can make games without worrying about how much of PS4's user base has the camera.

Killzone 3, Resistance 3, and Heavy Rain where all much more enjoyable for me with PSMove. I have also had the most fun with poeple over playing PSMove games.

Having the camera makes the device so much more versitile, and opens the door to a massive amount of innovation. It makes the the industry and the platform much more exciting. I love sitting on the couch playing God of War, Skyrim, or Final Fantasy just as much as anyone else, but I also find getting up and interacting with the game just as entertaining.

If you are using the PS2 and 3 as an example then what you just stated is that there will be no support.  Why buy the bundle for the move if it fractures the gaming landscape on the PS4. Sometimes choice is not a good thing if you want support for a device.  If Sony isn't making any real effort to support their device why would 3rd party devs.

There may be minimal support, but I really dont think Sony care that much as long as there is support and people buy it.

I mean, Eye Toy was a success. PS Eye and PS Move are a success. While Eye Toy didnt really have support, the support for PS Move and PS Eye hasnt been nearly as bad.

Where PS4 Eye will be different to Eye Toy and PS Eye, is that it will be available from launch (And will probably have an SKU at launch too). While Eye Toy and PS Eye were released sometime into the platforms life and managed to do 10 Million units, PS4 Eye will be there from the start and will likely push over 20 Million units, providing PS4 has lifetime numbers anything like every other PS home console.

Worked well? Worked well in making the peripheral a failure you mean?

Eye Toy sold over 10 Million units.

PS Move sold over 15 Million units too, which requires PS Eye... And the device has what, 120 games supported?

Can you explain how Eye Toy, PS Eye and Move have been failures?

Now I can see that "$349" price tag being true. If it was bundled, I wouldn't expect less than $450.
