Why would they reveal your actual name? That makes no sense.
They'd just ban you and forget about it.

I've been a member there for over a year now, after of course waiting almost a year to get approved.
Anyways, I go there for news, just as I do with N4G, however I have yet to actually post anything, still at a 0 post count.
Not interesting enough to have discussions. I prefer the group here much more.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Only read the OPs on neogaf (as they indeed contain lots of useful info) but stay here. No need to create an account, since no one is giving two shits about your opinion there. Seriously discussion is almost non-existent and there are so many replies to a topic by so many members that no one even tries to respond to every single post that they agree or disagree with.
I think its worth it.
Consider that most of the posts and threads you see around here are copied straight from GAF...
Their community is also more gamer centric than ours i.e. They actually play games. You will find some of the best official threads there and A LOT of gaming info.
I also think technical discussion is on a different level on there than compared to here. People on there also do more of there own investigations and research instead of just copying from other websites which goes on a lot over here. That doesn't mean they get it right all the time but just saying. I also noticed that when it comes to technical discussions people who don't know what they talking about openly admit it which is soooo much different from here.
Also much less trolls on GAF.... You won't find long standing members on GAF that are constantly causing trouble like you do on here.
And im not even making this shit up. I'm not a GAF member but like most other Vgcharters i spend a lot of time reading the info there and then discussing here a few hours later.
The developers and insiders is also something to consider.
I've only really been lurking GAF since this year...so my experience is based on that time frame.
The things i think GAF don't have is the community feel that you get over here on the chartz, but i think this is because we are a smaller community than theirs. I also like our website more than theirs. The colour scheme and thread layout and posts are very dull compared to our funky green colours
Not sure why people are saying discussion is low there? There threads get pretty deep and go on forever until the topic is fully exhausted.
Yeah there's a lot of one liners...but like here good posts get recognized and shitty posts get shitted on.
I also noticed that there isn't as much duplicate and pointless threads on GAF...a lot of threads get merged into official threads etc. which doesn't happen here. But thats down to preference whether you think that's a good thing or not.
None of the GAF accounts I've made have ever been authenticated, and none of the emails asking about this have ever been replied to.
The community there is really bad. People think this site is full of fanboys, but you don't really know what a true annoying fanboy is until you go to Neogaf.
Nintendo and PC gamer

Uhm, they won't reveal your personal information if you are banned. That was your question.
Now, I don't really think one needs an account, you can freely read all threads, and very rarely they use the "quote" thing to hide info from outsiders. Oh and that you can subscribe to threads, but they tend to go very long, and most of the posts don't have much content. As most have said before, just check the op, and you should be good.
A thing that can be useful is that you can ignore certain users, that would be a lovely thing to have here.
I have an account and have posted about 5 times.
Sure, why not? It's bigger than any other forum, and more developers post there than elsewhere.
