Forums - Gaming - Is signing into NeoGAF worth it?

I think its worth it.

Consider that most of the posts and threads you see around here are copied straight from GAF...

Their community is also more gamer centric than ours i.e. They actually play games. You will find some of the best official threads there and A LOT of gaming info.

I also think technical discussion is on a different level on there than compared to here. People on there also do more of there own investigations and research instead of just copying from other websites which goes on a lot over here. That doesn't mean they get it right all the time but just saying. I also noticed that when it comes to technical discussions people who don't know what they talking about openly admit it which is soooo much different from here.

Also much less trolls on GAF.... You won't find long standing members on GAF that are constantly causing trouble like you do on here.

And im not even making this shit up. I'm not a GAF member but like most other Vgcharters i spend a lot of time reading the info there and then discussing here a few hours later.

The developers and insiders is also something to consider.

I've only really been lurking GAF since this year...so my experience is based on that time frame.

The things i think GAF don't have is the community feel that you get over here on the chartz, but i think this is because we are a smaller community than theirs. I also like our website more than theirs. The colour scheme and thread layout and posts are very dull compared to our funky green colours

Agree with everything you said.

And while their size means it's impossible for them to be one big community like vgc, there's a ton of sub-communities to be found.

None of the GAF accounts I've made have ever been authenticated, and none of the emails asking about this have ever been replied to.

You can't use a free email provider to sign up. It's in the Terms of Service.

it's not worth it. The mods there are way too strict and the community there is not as comfy as here.

Awesome

Was beginning to think me and some of the other posters in the thread were talking about two different GAF's. Not sure why everyone here has such negativity towards GAF...baffled :/ I know theres the hole GAF hates Vgchartz thing but meh.

Yeah and about the whole community thing..I wouldnt really even know to be honest. I think that is something you can only truly gauge when you become an active member.

Wow, VGC taking over GAF? :)

I just saw that you were perma-banned off of here. You were such a nice young man (to me. I don't have an opinion about the moderation).

I wander if you're on GAF now. Hopefully not. It's a nasty place. So unpersonal (is that the right word?) and hostile.

If you lurked around here earlier, you may find that many former members here are still active there, like BengaBenga or JaggedSac... at least.

Best forum I have ever taken part of. Has a better sense of humor than here. The only drawbacks can be politics, race, sexuality, and especially gun control , smh. If you are not extremely liberal you will sometimes get annoying fucks acting like they are morally superior in mass. They whine a lot, but overall it is way faster than this turtle pace forum. You have to stick around forever and constantly post here to get much out of it. Replies come really fast there.

This place is far less focused on games and more focused on rooting for corporations.

That stated most long term members here have a GAF account.

Depends what you want to go there for. Threads for games are fan-bloody-tastic, the Killer Instinct one has well over 5000 posts combined.

Off topic is also great, far less trolls there than the gaming side.

Negative topics on the gaming side though are awful, I steer clear of them because it's just trolls and baiting galore.

it's worth having an account just so that if you come back to a thread the site remembers which page you were on.

i don't post much. probably have ~10 posts total. i prefer vgchartz mostly because we have less people. far easier to carry on a conversation in this more intimate setting. gaf has a wealth of insiders with amazing insight which basically makes you and nobody and a nobody you'll remain forever.

I'd do it if i was you, i do already. The site is great and the negativity is much less than what you see here, despite some shouting otherwise.

There are so many users, that a bitter couple have a much harder time in ruining threads and such.

And since the community is soo big, there a lot of industry insiders and officials who are active in the threads.
