don't really care if they last 10 or 5 years but i think my 360 controllers which still work are all 5+ years old and my first one i got with the 360 in 2005 also works still fine.

but i really want to know how the rumble in the triggers feels. has to be nice for the ufc game lol

Stephen Totillo had a write-up on Kotaku regarding it.  He was very impressed with them.

My 360 controllers work just fine, and I've had them since 2006 o.O

All of mine were early generation controllers and they lasted.  However, I understand that later generations of the controller didn't last as long.  At least that was my nephew's friends experience.  It could also be the style of play.

They are packed with flaws, at least that's what I can tell with my Halo Reach 360 controller version. I've got four: two old (from 2006) and those news with the slim version, and by now, I prefer the olds (but I play most of my games with the Reach ones except for those games that require striking accuracy). For example, the left stick slides to the left by an unknown cause, and that tends to make my characters move left while playing. It's annoying. Whenever I press the B button I feel like it is going to break or something (makes strange sounds!).

I dunno. The 2006 are awesome.

The only controller I ever have problems with was the N64 which analog stick kept breaking all the time while playing Smash Brothers.

That X1 controller looks great.

haha those sticks were really bad! you could produce white powder with them. 1080° snowboarding was perfect for it ... probably the only console where i had to buy several controllers because they didn't really work anymore after a while.

what about the batteries?

my N64 controler from 1996 still works :*/

MS certainly makes great controllers and the new Xbox One controller looks very good.

This supposed to be good? All my controllers still work and some are older then 10 years. Not trying to be negative but I am just saying my controller should last as long as my console does (20+ years for some).

Hope that's true. I love the 360 controller, and it's built pretty well, but I play shooters pretty hardcore, and I've gone through 4 controllers this gen because I keep wearing down the sticks. They tend to develop a tendency to stay slightly slanted to whatever side you last applied pressure to when you let loose, so your character keeps on moving/turning that way until you correct for it. It's a very minor thing, and not really a big deal for most games, but it can make a big difference when you're playing an online shooter.

Holy shit man you must be a mean beast to your controllers, in 30 years ive only broke 1 third party n64 stick and a couple of old skool PC joysitcks.

They aren't saying it'll only last 10 years, they're saying it'll last for up to 3 million button presses.  I'm sure the life of the controller will depend on how you play, as it has been with every controller except the Atari 2600 Joystick and Atari 5200 Gamepad.

lol, I'm really not that bad I think. I play in a pretty big clan, and this is a pretty common issue for everyone. Since I started playing more competitively I wear down the left stick on a new controller in about a year and a half.
