Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One Controller Designed To Last 10 Years

don't really care if they last 10 or 5 years but i think my 360 controllers which still work are all 5+ years old and my first one i got with the 360 in 2005 also works still fine.

but i really want to know how the rumble in the triggers feels. has to be nice for the ufc game lol

Nice. Making the best controller in gaming even better.

Hope that's true. I love the 360 controller, and it's built pretty well, but I play shooters pretty hardcore, and I've gone through 4 controllers this gen because I keep wearing down the sticks. They tend to develop a tendency to stay slightly slanted to whatever side you last applied pressure to when you let loose, so your character keeps on moving/turning that way until you correct for it. It's a very minor thing, and not really a big deal for most games, but it can make a big difference when you're playing an online shooter.

Sounds great^^. So far I only have 3 controllers which managed to survive a full decade: Both of my Gamecube controllers which I have used ~2000hrs each only for the Super Smash Bros. games (maybe another 800-1000 hrs on all other games combined) and (not sure if it's already been full 10 years) my Logitech Rumblepad 2. All of them still work flawlessly.

I cannot play Fifa anymore with PS3 controller. 360 controller should be standard for gaming devices.
It feels good and natural in your hands and the thumbsticks do not slide like the dual shock ones. Excellent for action games.

Sony modified the PS4 thumbsticks and made it have a concave depression like the 360 and X1 thumbsticks so your thumbs won't slide off.

The 360 controller design is literally the most optimal design ever. I don't see this changing for many console generations to come.

I wish dem batteries lasted ten years.

I only ever had three batteries, but one of mine died after hitting a hard surface.

I'm, hoping they do a better job on the battery packs.

it depends on how much yo ucare for ur controller i could have my ps3 for 15 years!

Fantastic news. I will be able to change channels, and go into Netflix for 10 years with this controller.

The only controller I ever have problems with was the N64 which analog stick kept breaking all the time while playing Smash Brothers.

That X1 controller looks great.

My 360 controllers work just fine, and I've had them since 2006 o.O

All of mine were early generation controllers and they lasted.  However, I understand that later generations of the controller didn't last as long.  At least that was my nephew's friends experience.  It could also be the style of play.
