Forums - Nintendo - Smash Bros on 3DS and Wii U was a terrible idea

Tagged games:

smash bros on a nintendo portable is a sign that a main pokemon may be heading to a home console.

I would like if Gamefreak went straight to make Pokmeon X and Y sequels (Like Z, or X2, whatever) AND LET THE RUBY AND SAPPHIRE REMAKES FOR WII U BY MONOLITH.

A man can dream.

It's a bit early to say as we dont have any details on SSB yet, but since the announcement I havent even considered SSB 3DS. The only reason I'd get the handheld version is if something was significantly different (aka Mario Kart).

Also am I the only one who gets serious hand cramp playing certain games on 3DS? I just cant imagine playing SSB for more than a couple of minutes without experiencing pain! The Wii U version will definitely be the way to go for me

I've been getting that feeling for a good 5 months now.

Not concerned for the Wii U version at all, I'm more concerned by just who they think will bother with the handheld version in the first place.

My initial thought was they're just trying to get the Japanese big into the series considering how little they tend to care for consoles at this point, and how little they cared for the N64 and GCN which were vital for building up the series.

Buy a 3DS XL.  The ergonomics on the original 3DS are complete garbage.  The DS Lite and DSi share my sentiments.  The original DS is better than all versions except for the XL versions.  The XL versions are more comfortable to hold and play than the original DS, and the screens are bigger.  XL versions are a billion times more comfortable than the Lite, DSi, and 3DS versions, and also have bigger screens.

I am not sure where people got the idea that people don't play local multiplayer games on handhelds. Pokemon, Monster Hunter PSP/3DS, and Mario Kart DS/3DS are probably the three biggest local multiplayer game franchises in the world that aren't motion control centric.

Pokemon is  a 1vs1 multiplayer game where two games with each one save are needed.  That's absolutely nothing to compare with Smash Bros who has to be played on a single screen for the maximum of fun.

You do know what Locally means right?  Means you have 4 people sitting around a camp fire for example with each having a 3DS out and playing.

It would be no different than playing on the tv screen.  You would all see the same thing on yoru own 3DS.  You can still lip off, swear, ect.

I think your confusing local play with over the internet.  The Wii smash had over the internet, and as You i find that no fun.  I want people in the room with me playing.  the 3DS and Wii U both allow that.  Only differnece is the screen size, and the fact that for 3DS you have to have 4 3DS to do it.

I am not confusing.

Having 4 3DS and 4 games is way too much of an hurdle. And on the same big screen non splitted, this is much better

I already disproved this in my first post by pointing out how handheld versions of Mario Kart, Pokemon, and Monster Hunter are highly successful as local multiplayer games.

Mario Kart 3D and 3DS feature a popular 8 player local multiplayer mode.

Pokemon isn't only successfull due to local multiplayers, you are very far from that.  Monster Hunter isn't popular in the west and Mario Kart on handheld isn't popular for local multiplayer, but much more for online. That's why it's most popular on home console with a real and user firendly local MP.

So you ignore all the intellectual responses that show the error of your ways. I think we all know what that means. ;)

Btw, I believe the decision to put SSB4 on both 3DS and Wii U came before the latter console even released. Just some food for thought there hehe.

Pokemon is built on local multiplayer, trading, battling and later more via friends is part of what made the franchise the hit it was. Monster Hunter isn't huge in the west but it is MASSIVE on nearly a Pokemon level in Japan, based on joining up with other people and going on hunts. Nintendo is a Japanese company, even if they have a lot of their money in foreign investments, they try to appease their home markets and to get the most money and in Japan local multiplayer via portables is a much bigger facet of gaming then it is in the West.

The only way Smash Bros can possibily fail on the 3DS is if Nintendo/Namco fail to take into account the screen size (of both the regular and XL systems) and they mess up the zoom by doing it too far out or too close.

I didn't ignore them, I asked a few pages back if it had been confirmed that the games weren't the same.

You didn't reply to them, but instead replied to another post in a way that shows you didn't read any other post at all, hence ignored. Instead of denying it, just reply to them, namely mine. :L

Also, that question has naught to do with what was being said, and it came before the posts I'm refering to so I don't know why you're bringing that up, but to answer you no they haven't confirmed this, and the games will likely be similar in the same ways all SSB games are alike.
