Forums - Gaming - Geoff Keighley: Sources Say Sony Will Include PS4 Used Game DRM

Here is the actual quote from the video:

"white knight (referring to Sony) that's not going to restrict used games, based on some of the things I'm hearing I don't think that's entirely true because I can't see publishers allowing one system to do one thing or the other".

But do you buy all your games at $60. If you buy some on sale or when they lower in price that could change too. If some reports come true GameStop would only get 10% on used games now. Thanks to that they will want to keep used games at the highest price they can for longer to get profit. And meaning new game prices will same $60 for longer. Sure you can just buy last games but it will affect you just like the people who buy used games.

Ok OP, he never said his sources were indicating anything. He didn't mention sources at all, just that he doesn't think Sony won't do something similar to MS because it would be weird if publishers weren't making the same deals with Sony.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

This is the type of short sightedness that leads to the continual erosion of consumer rights.

I thought about it and i believe Sony will have something that EA is going to take advantage of but as long as that always online check up virus shit isnt mandatory on PS4 then im good

Sony already said that PS4 can be fully played while not connected like how a system should be

There isnt any mandatory install for each gsme supposedly so im liking that also

It looks like MS will be the only company riding that train and im fine with that. Just keep that shit over there with Xbox and its fans and out of my way with PS4 and Wii U ;)

They can have that..

I'm PS4 and Wii U swagging through this generation ;)

First they came for used games, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a used game...

I don't have much knowledge about Neogaf users. Is famousmorimer pretty accurate with his information?

Yeah, he has been right on other stuff. He's definitely legit, but a lot of times he's just passing on things he has heard, not things he knows for a fact to be true. I believe he hears everything he says he's hears, but they're just rumors and could be wrong.

Ah gotcha, well hopefully he's right on this one. Gonna just have to wait and see.

It's very possible they will. I don't mind being forced to uninstall my copy, or deactivate it from my system or what-ever when i'm done with it. However if i'm forced to pay a fucking fee, then there's a problem.

Now i'm not going to speculate what they'll do until they say so, but i'll be keeping my eyes open.

If consoles do go this "fee" route, then I can't wait for them to be hacked, and they definitely will be quite quickly.

WHAT????? No way. :(

At worst I thought Sony would let publishers make decisions about that. But with EA retiring online passes I did begin to worry a little. It doesn't make sense EA would let Sony get away with it if Microsoft is doing it and Nintendo is paying the price for 'insubordination'.

Show some backbone, Sony! This is your chance to go in for the kill, don't let that chance go. Please...

Hard times.
