agreed, some may say it gives Nintendo some hope too

While I own Nintendo consoles, Nintendo is my least favorite of the console developers and even they showed that they're more competent in showing video gamers what we wanted to see.

During Nintendo's announcement of the Wii U, they showed off games. Games, games, and more games. Now there are hardly any games on the Wii U, but doesn't change the fact that the system was shown with gamers in mind. They didn't announce the console and talk about nothing but TVii. They talked about the games first and then left TVii for a future date entirely. Microsoft showed that they cared to launch the console and announce it not for the people who got their video game consoles where they are now, they decided to announce it and speak of nothing but tv this and tv that, but hey, here's another generic Call of Duty game after all of that tv talk.  It also doesn't help the Xbox One is riddled with DRM, something we found out after the fact.

Are you one of the people that clapped when Microsoft announced that you can pause your Star Trek movie to order tickets to the sequel?

wait till E3

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

A couple other devs share the sentiment..

A Lead Core Gameplay Designer from DICE had this to say

I think Gen4 is now Sony's game.

To which a Senior Designer at EA DICE responded: agree

This guys is either retarded or has an agenda. I suspect a little bit of both since he is an indie developer now and we all know they have issues with Microsofts self publishing limitations.

Sony will have to demo games as well talk about hardware at e3 since they really didn't cover either topic very well at their conference.

Microsoft has done a bang up job at the conference and all of the press coverage afterwards in detailing hardware. At e3 they can talk about games and explain hardware specific gameplay since we all know what the hardware is and what Kinect can do.

Come again? They were much more forthcoming than Microsoft in that regard. They spent most of their time talking about the hardware, and how it would benefit developers and players.

Games isn't even debatable. Sony covered a lot more in that area than MS did in their presentation.

I totally disagree. Sony mentioned some specs but no one has any idea what they are dealing with. Look at every tech news site after the Microsoft conference... Everyone got to play around with Kinect 2.0, controllers, saw the hardware up close.

You didn't like it?? Admit it man.

I won't lose sleep over someone elses opinion either.

People giving the victory to Sony or dismissing Microsoft because they didn't show games at their reveal, no matter who they are, do not understand the nature of the business.

I agree with dana that the audience for the reveal was poorly communicated, but that doesn't change the fact that their strategy is viable in a mainstream society that doesn't often revolve around gaming.

Haha, I did think it was cool actually, along with a slew of other features, but I just don't think a lot of those little cool moments were adequately proportionate to the applause.  Others (Annoyed Gamer, Kyle Bosman over at GT) have made comments on how the applause seemed forced, and I agree.

I'm a Sony fan (not a fanboy), but I'm also a XBox fan too.  While I've purchased Sony consoles, my brother has had the the first and second XBox and we've played on all of them together.  Just because a lot of people didn't enjoy the press show to the level of those that would fawn over every little feature doesn't mean that we're all fanboys who just hate the XBox.  The show was just underwhelming (almost everything from the design of the box looking like a rectangular PS Fat, the rambling on about how the box interacts with TV and even the name).

Certainly, a lot of Sony fanboys are trolling the XBox just because they would regardless of whether the unveiling was good or not, but there are a lot of us who just wanted more.  Conversely, there are a lot of XBox fanboys who have been giving it rave reviews (i.e. the clapping and oohs and ahhs over trivial features) just because the machine is XBox.
