Well, they were never announced as exclusives for the PS3. What you are talking about is them being PS2 exclusives and then not carrying over to being PS3 exclusives. Big difference.

"Sony's list of PS3-exclusive third party games continues to diminish. Capcom has just announced their plans to make Devil May Cry 4 a multi-platform game. The game is now in development for the Xbox 360 and the PC, with the 360 version launching simultaneously as the PS3 version.
"Capcom is committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible, and has been building its technology base to meet that goal," said Mark Beaumont , executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe said in the latest press release.
While making the game accessible to the largest audience possible is admirable, Sony must now ensure that they do not lose further exclusives. Currently, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII are still slated for PS3-exclusive release, but Sony must make every effort that Konami and Square Enix don't follow suit."
And don't tell me you forgot this.

Did Sony announce those games as exclusives to PS3?

I was aware that they are second party. They could count, they also could not.... We're better off waiting till E3 than discussing this here, though you're welcome to continue it on my wall. |
The ground between first-party IP's and second party developers is always tricky.
I don't see any reason why if Microsoft is publishing them, they wouldn't also also be funding the development and as such would list them as a first party game. Just as Sony did with Motorstorm or Resistance at PS3's launch.

I tried checking sources, but I can't say. I don't see any oficial statement anywhere; however, the Lead Producer stated so in a special famitsu magazine.

Usually Sony doesn't announce games and even DLCs as exclusives if they aren't. There are some exceptions here and there.
Also the lead producer belongs to capcom, and they probably had that vision for the game in the beginning. That has happened many times, I think Metro Last Light was also supposed to be PC/360 only but now it is on PS3 as well. That's not really the same as a company announcing something as exclusive and then it turning out to be a multiplat.

I suppose.
Edit: I suppose not, I meant. You're right.
All the "its just XBLA and Kinect casual stuff" is a pure defense mechanism. I like it and can't wait to see reactions at E3.
Sure Kinect sports 3/dance central 3 will come out in all likelihood, but that's just 2 games out of 15. You need a couple casual titles after all if you wanna appeal to all crowds.

And I don't understand the XBLA argument. There are gems in XBLA that have more replay value and are more entertaining than most games out there. Just look at Battleblock Theater or State of Decay. I'd rather have that than a poor AAA title.
