Otakumegane said: The 3DS is up against the Vita. Tablets too, but pretty much has a monopoly right now on the dedicated handheld market. The WiiU is up against 2 years of neglect of the Wii, the Xbone in america-the strongest console market, the PS4 and the PC. And it has no games, the 3rd parties aren't supporting it because of the DRM issue. The WiiU is a good concept with a horrible execution so far. The 3DS is a decent concept with everyone else floundering so it was like "huh I guess I'm ok after all" I say wait till the games come out 1st. Then we can discuss stuff. But I think Nintendo made the WiiU solely to ride out the upcoming gen because they believe that the Western industry is going to crash to an extent. Xbone isn't helping either. |
The 3DS is up against Vita AND Smartphones/Tablets and sales are good now. And the 3DS XL price is almost as high as the price of the 3DS at launch. The price drop wasn't neccessary, games sell gaming systems.
Nintendo was shocked by the first reactions to the slow OS and they made a horrible mistake as they decided to hold Wii U games and advertising back, because they want to market the Wii U not until the OS runs faster. But after the Nintendo games are released the Wii U will have much higher sales.
It is easy to port PS4/Xbox One games to Wii U and not many publisher want to miss this money when Wii U sales get higher. And after the sales spike up, some other things will happen "magically" like EA suddenly ports frostbite3 engine to the Wii U.
No third party support? True to the Wii but the Wii U has a far better support. Look at the third party games for the rest of the year: Rayman Legends, Assassins Creed 4, Batman Arkham Origins, Deus Ex, Sniper Elite V2, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Watch Dogs, Call of Duty and many more. And Nintendo obviously is working with some thirds on exclusive games like Shin Megami Tensai/Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, Sonic Lost Worlds and many more. On top of that Mario, Zelda, Metroid and new games from Monolith and Retro and many already announced indie titles.
