There is a very Dreamcast-like feel to Wii U at the minute, so you can kind of understand some of the negativity, however it is getting a little over the top - perhaps even hysterical.
I really think Nintendo need to act to stop some sort of self fulfilling prophecy. The more people harp on that Wii U is a failure the more people will skip the console in favour of other systems. This then starts a cycle where the belief of Wii U's failure (despite not being the case) leads to the system failing. Think about it, a console is an investment that enables you to play games, why spend all that money on something that you believe will fail? You end up with a system that is essentially useless as no new software is released.
However providing they act soon I really think they can turn things around. They have a number of huge franchises and a decent console so really there is no reason for Wii U to fail. They just need to change public perception and raise awareness.
I really think they need to play on the fact you can switch to the pad whilst playing, it's such a useful feature I dont know how I've been without it for so long!!
