but you can't borrow a game from a friend

(Whereas on ps4 supposedly, you can even stream a game to a friend and play together, like how handhelds do)

No you can not. But since game is on fire sale at 9.99 3 months after its been released due to agressive pricing that publishers can go after with digital distribution both you and your friend can afford it.

speculation

EDIT:
Also, has nothing to do with me, thanks I have a very generous income and I buy all my games day 1 and never buy used. I don't even buy steam sale games, and pay generously for those humble bundles. This is about kids.

Everything you guys are complaining about has been decided on long time ago when digital distribution became the norm, and consoles are finally catching up.

PC's tablets, cell phones all work on the same manner. If you buy Angry Birds on your iphone, your friend can't play it on his ipad unless you use your user ID on it and download it for him. Same goes for PC software.

That's why we have the glory of this thing called competition, wherein other companies seek to outdo competition by offering things that makes us buy them instead.

"Because you have to put up with this on PC" isn't a fair argument for its inclusion on consoles.

It's one of the major reasons I haven't touched PC gaming.

I'd have no problem with this IF in fact Sony and M$ along with 3rd parties follow Steams's lead and aggressively price games, rather than every single "retail release" (AAA or not) have a fixed MSRP at $60. They are essentially cutting out the middle man here, so there's no reason to charge $60 for 95% of games.

Also... I've had no problem with paying for XBL in the past because it's been a great service, but if going forward you have to not only pay all of these premiums like a "used game" fee or other such fees, but also pay a monthly rate just to get the basics that XBL offers, then M$ has seriously overestimated what the average consumer is willing to spend on a device that primarily plays games.

Don't forget disolitude.. while you rightly praise the possibility that this will open up the path to aggressive pricing by developers and publishers on consoles, on the other hand the entry fee to console gaming has also steeply increased for the average consumer just by the simple fact that without an internet connection, and a damn good one at that, the console will be all but useless. You won't even be able to play the boxed games you purchased at retail without an online connection to verify the installation and link it to your profile. So this could all add up pretty quickly for the average consumer before they've even gotten a change to pop in their first game.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Yeah and I look forward to seeing your face once Sony implements a similar DRM system or are scrambling to implement it as we speak since they realize they can't compete in the digital distribution world without it.

I guess those kids you're so very concerned about will be playing their PS3s for many years to come.

Sony already said you'll be able to stream games to friends for free.

What does your face look like right now?

And bolded is untrue. You can be competitive in DD without charging everyone for every little thing. Just look at PS+ sales for evidence.

if digital is the future and everyone is going to buy digitally they why should MS or sony force the issue?  why not making playing a game from a disc possible so that taking that disc and (via an internet connection) downloading it to a user account is a feature?

someone a few months back layed out this great plan where you can basically transfer your license between a disc and an account giving you all the awesome of digital AND all the awesome of physical.

don't get me wrong, i'm going to be a digital guy for sure.  but seriously, there are people that simply can't afford to pay the bill for a monthly internet connection in their home.

digital might be the future but you can't be blind to the realities of today.

What the fuck, don't try to make this crap look okay.

It's not okay.

I am perfectly ok with this. Its how I've been gaming on the PC since mid 2000's.

The biggest dissapointment today for me with Xbox One is no backwards compatibility, therefore in order to seem like I am freaking out over something like everyone else...What the fuck indeed??

that was confirmed?  i was looking for that detail but this is the first i heard.

That was an excellent article. I would LOVE for Xbox One to go the Steam route. I'd save so much money that way.

If i already have a PC, why should i bother with this kind of console?
Its the ONE i dont want.

Microsoft is making one epic marketing mistake in the name of greed. And btw, microsoft is the one that should be feeling scared at this point.

Please...This article states that Sony has hopes and dreams of allowing you to give your friends temporary control of the game, meant for helping you pass a certain level or boss fight.  Try logging out of your profile while streaming and see what happens with your friend trying to play your game.

This whole Sony = good and wil give everything for free while Microsoft = evil and will charge for everything they can is getting old. They both charge for everything they can, Sony just pretends to feel bad for it in to public.

Have you people never bought a game on PSN or Xbox live? Its exactly how current gen DRM works for DD titles. This isn't anything new...
