Forums - Gaming - Anyone else NOT excited for the next gen consoles?

You are just spoiled! For us console only gamers, a new gen is welcome. Seriously, it has been the longest cycle of consoles.

not all of us, if these are the replacement units keep this gen going … what are the odds of all 3 being the next virtual boy … my money is on lower sales across this gen but i could just be out of touch … with things i have always associated with console gaming like being able to put a disc in and play without having to install it. never needing internet, and you know owning copies of the game like i have since the NES.. if i wanted installs id go full pc

I can't say I'm not interested in the PS4. I am, but Sony has to do a very good job this E3 in the game department. The biggest problem for me, now that I'm thinking about it, is most of my favourite franchises are ruined. Final Fantasy has a long way to go to win me back. Metal Gear has me interested still. Street Fighter needs another revamp. God of War needs a break. Uncharted is the only console game that has me interested. Bioware games I'm getting for PC so I have no need for them on PS4.

i agree on FF and Bioware... maybe square could release follow up to kingdom hearts finally to move us along  and give them something else to do. GT6/7 should be good …with competition from froze both games have been forced to work hard at new versions making each a much better product

sony also normally has a few new franchises that are must haves every gen i still want to play valkyrie chronicles …. such a back log of games

This is the main reason I am interested with the PS4.  I'm actually very excited with Second Son.  If I do get a PS4 at launch, this will be the first game I get.  Though, the only reason I'd get a PS4 at launch is because I need to trade my 360 in.

i'm excited but my excitement is heavily muted by my fear that all three consoles are going to fail miserably. my fear about the wiiU turned true and right now i have a really bad feeling about both the ps4 and 360.

..not sure where i'll be gaming in the future. i hope the ps4 does well enough but i dunno. as i said in another thread i'm waiting until march 2014 at the earliest to upgrade (and i'm generally a day one kind of guy).

at the moment the PS4 may be my ship as well moving back from the xbox line, i was a ps1 gamer... but for this gen i think i might give it till 2015 before i buy just to see how things shake out, from what the devs seem to be saying both the ps3 and 360 have a few more years of games

so true. if nothing but dark souls 2 launched this holiday i'd still be good for most of 2014.   ..and yeah, my march 2014 is really to just see how things shake out.  i figure the holiday will be good sales regardless but we should have a good idea if we have a success, flop, or standard gen by around march.

i've been a sony guy this gen and so far i'm happiest with sony for next gen.  ..but they did dodge some questions at their reveal.  i want confirmation they aren't going anywhere near xbox's direction.

..i'm also about ready to take back every bad word i've said about nintendo.

Microsoft aren't giving fans much to work with in regards to damage control

Thread title is pretty self explanatory. Basically Ive watched both Console reveals and I walk away rather unimpressed. However between the two presentations id have to give the edge to the SONY. I just dont feel that the tech is really pushing the envelope at all. The Graphics, while better dont really seem like a HUGE increase. All in all im completely underwhelmed (esp by microsoft) and i will not be buying any of the consoles. (Atleast until there is a huge Price drop on the Xbox One in which case ill get it just for the Media capabilities or some awesome Must have game comes along).

I guess Im gonna be a PC only gamer the next 5 years or so.

Does anyone feel the same as me? OR am i just a spoiled hard to please PC gamer?

hey thanks for giving me a thread to vent dont think i have posted this much in a day in years. as mentioned below i too may be a pc only gamer... and that makes me angry and sad … its almost like im losing a friend

To sum it up:
WiiU: I'm excited for future games (not mario, or zelda, potential titles like last story and fragile dreams on wii)
PS4: excited for the games and the social side of things
XOne: I live in tokyo, those US-centric tv features i can't use mean less system resources for games, and the games were all i cared about.. -_-

i would have done that had the big N gone all in on there new controllers or stuck with something a little less out there, but the current half and half, and only one in use ... and other restrictions just leave me flat.... i understand its a cost issue, but if its that realize the controller later int he gen or next gen.... i feel it will need to be a virtualboy

I look forward to next gen games. I'm just really annoyed with the hardware.

Looks like I'll stick with the 360 for a cross platform games. Don't think I'll even consider getting an Xbox One until we see Halo 5.
