Forums - Sony - $79.99 for MGS4 and FF13?

why does this guy that works for microsoft have insider information about games coming out on PS3? I mean if it was a sony employee ok, but he doesn't even have anything to do with MGS4 or FFXIII.

I don't think he does... but to play devils advocate.  If you work for Microsoft you might know people who say... work on games from Konami or Square Enix... and they might know.

To me it sounds like he's guessing though.

I believe the higher price tags are a result of you know... the blu-ray format.

Thats the main culprit I assure you.

if blu-ray was the reason, then all ps3 games would need to be $20 more. Blu-ray really is only a few more dollars per disc to produce than DVD. DVD is like .15 a disc, blu-ray 50GB is like 1.65 a disc, so a $20 increase isn't because of blu-ray. check out wesleytech.com if you don't believe me on that one. by the way this is all BS.  Remember BD50 is what basically all new movies come out on, so they are being mass produced now.

Why would a MS employee know what a Konami and SE game for a Sony cost?

Unless, OMG, they're both coming to the 360!!!!!!111

MGS4 and FFXIII coming to the 360......CONFIRMED!

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Not going to happen ... Sony , Konami and SE makes some foolish decisions , but this is just to much , even for them ...

Out of principle, I refuse to pay more than $60 for a game. If these games are released for $80, I'm not buying them until they're $40 or less. My reasoning is that for each sale they get for $20 over the price point I will accept, I will only buy it $20 under the price point that I'd normally accept.

I buy a lot of new games, and for most of the games half of the games I pay $40 or less for, even brand new (TRU "buy 2 get 1 free" sales, specials on various games -- CC sells some hot games for $10 under retail the day of launch, or retail specific deals like the TRU buy SMG get $25 gift card sale.

Using another coupon, the $25 gift card and the buy 2 get 1 free sale, I got 4 $50 games for something like $100.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw MGS4 on a 360 last night. I guess it's pretty definate.

If I remember correct I think my mother payed 69.99 for Chrono Trigger on SNES.(back in '95)

BTW this is just what my older brother's friend who works at Microsoft guaranteed.

Yeah, NES and SNES games back in the day were really expensive. The most expensive games, though, was on the N64, they went for over 800 NOK here! A full 2-300 more than other games.

Stuff is more expensive in europe.  I could of swore NES games were like... 29.99 in the US... 39.99 at most.

I believe you're right about NES games in the US, but he was definitely right about N64 games as well.  I think most N64 games were $60 new.  These days, I'd be less likely to pay for them, but when I was 16 I bought bucketloads of N64 games for $60.
