Yes, pretty far off topic that I am talking about Microsofts response to Sony.

They responded? What did they say?

21st of May.

My guess is anything before E3 would be deemed a response to Sony by you.

I think the real response to Sony is getting bigger name IPs unveiled at their show. Tech demos don't seem so interesting in comparison. :-p

See now we're getting off topic. Anywa, Sony isn't my focus. I never had to worry about them when it comes to game development outside of the 2006-2008 period. Don't care about handhelds so the PSP failing doesnt matter to me. This is MS chance to make up for a lot and I know they will take it in the begining of the generation because they know who their early adopters are.

Blah, blah...

MS doesn't need to make up for anything. The 360 had a great run with a bunch of great games.

Even after 2008 I feel the 360 had the better games. But lets not bother bringing personal bias into this.

Oh I cant wait for this, please do....list the exclusives. Not here though on my wall.

Oh, this is simple.

Halo series >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anything Sony released.

Not everyone thinks Sony has better games. MS also sold more 1st party software. Deal with it.

How is Sony making them announce it early, the Xbox was supposed to be announced in April

Wasnt the countdown to E3 setup by MS was to announce new Xbox?

Is that what was announced or what you presumed?

Presumed for sure and you dont put out such a count down unless you have somthing big to announce. E3 occurs every year and Microsoft never puts out a count down for E3 event. This year is different because next generation is coming out, and such a countdown would be sure related to a big announcment. Common sense to me.

Meh, even in your OP you say rumors pointed to an April reveal.

Who knows why they put an E3 countdown in. Personally I think Major Nelson did it just because it's such a huge E3 for the industry with 2 new consoles.

Yes, go list the exclusives so he can blow them off and explain why they don't matter/count or aren't as good as his favorites.

Conversation is between me and him and I told him to list them outside of his page. If he doesn't then it doesnt matter now does it?

I was talking to him, thanks.

Thats the point, let it stay between me and him. Theres already been enough sarcasm for one day and in order for points to be made about whichever system gaining redemption changes do need to be made. That was my whole point.

Wasn't talking to you.

To the OP:

I'd say more like Sony showed Microsoft how not to copy their presentation... :/

I think Sony was surprised by Sony.

They didn't even have a final hardware box to show off.  If anything the whole thing made me feel like Sony higher ups forced ahead the reveal to imrpove stock price and get a big revel before the financials were reported.  Chances are the PS4 wasn't originally meant to be revelead for a few months.  "Microsoft going first"and all.

So yeah Microsoft was surprised.

That said, no i don't think it rushed Microsoft.

My opinion might change however if THEY don't have a box to show.

Microsoft doesn't want Sony beating them to a launch. If Sony launches with them or ahead of them MS has their hands full. The reports about Sony's PS4 were that they were ahead of Microsofts development cycle and they had been finished with it since January. They didn't show off the box for a reason. Sony called out Microsoft a while ago, showing they were ready. They told Microsoft to unveil their console first and Microsoft didnt respond. Once the PS4 was semi-revealed Microsoft finally showed signs of movement.

No offense... but that sounds silly.  They calld out microsoft to show first? This is a buisness.  Not proffesional wrestling.

Also.... why didn't they show the box?  I never actually saw the reason.  Or was that the "They're waiting for microsoft to reveal their box" thing.

Doesn't really make sense...

Espiecally since it seems like Sony knew when the Xbox reveal was in the first place.  Sony just wanting PS4 info to be in before financial reporting just makes a lot more sense from a buisness standpoint then some challenging of microsofts honor on the field of battle.

I will go with "Maybe" since there are a lot of "Yes" and "No's" already. :3

You are more than welcome to think that, but since they have been talking about releasing a new console for several years I don't think it is all that likely.

Also, remember Microsoft is rather good at keeping secrets - even to the point of switching spec cards on a previous console the day of a reveal.

Although, if Sony was not releasing this year, they may have wanted to delay it too. But everyone in the industry knows that both have been very close to releasing new systems. So I think it's effect is unlikely.

But the biggest meter, and the one they stated, was when sales fall. And X360 sales have fallen this year. So that is their signal to release something new.

And to be fair, they did admit release in 2005 because they thought Sony was releasing then.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Sony Fanboys are going to say yes Microsoft fanboys will say no.

I think it did put a bit of pressure on them, because it is a competitive business and both companies have to be on par. But I don´t think Microsoft sheduled their release because of Sonys announcment at this particular time. I am pretty sure they did it because of the E3. So when E3 comes they will be able to profit from the hype the new Box will generate. While the PS4 hype is depleting. They sheduled their date really smart imo.

Of course they will, but they're wrong. Xbox was revealed in May, so was the 360. Not to mention, at first Kaz himself said to the world over twitter,(?) they'd be going last. If anything, MS pushed Sony to reveal early. They didn't even have a console to show at a console reveal.

I believe not. After all, the 360 is a year older than the PS3. Sony is the one showing early.
