but this proofs the point that Nintendo and Sega relations are probably stronger than ever. Yakuza 1 & 2 HD were also announced for the Wii U

It proves nothing. Yakuza 1&2 HD is already on PS3, and Sega is planning as much PS3 games as WiiU ones + 5 Vita games (not to mention their still unknown next gen plans). It's just clever Nintendo PR...

And generally speaking, every multiplat game that doesn't come to WiiU is one more reason to pick a Sony/Micosoft system over the former. And that's going to be a lot of reasons.

Yakuza has never left Sony consoles, proving that there's some sort of agreement between Nintendo and Sega. Monster Hunter started the same way, and look where it is now.

I don't deny that. What I'm saying is that Sega probably has other distinct partnerships with Sony that they haven't spoken about yet.

Errr ... Nintendo has been doing publisher partnerships for like 15 years now.

Resident Evil exclusivity, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, F-Zero GX, Star Fox Assault, Soul Calibur 2, Mario in SSX Tricky and NBA Street, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. this isn't anything new.

GameCube actually probably had the strongest Nintendo-third party partnerships.

They do care about multiplats since they made a big point of the Wii U being able to play all those PS3/360 games ("check that box" right Reggie?), they're just not getting all the multi-plats they were hoping for.

Changed the tittle for clarity. Nintendo will prefer to have an exclusive (or time exclusive) game than a multiplat. I will keep using the same example, Nintendo prefers Kingdom Hearts 3 exclusivity than GTA V multiplat.

And that's one of the points, Nintendo is ignoring the strategy they did with the Wii and are returning to the GC days, looking for games rather than waiting for 3rd parties to make them.

Well neither Kingdom Hearts 3 exclusivity or GTAV multiplat is likely to happen, so that's moot either way.

Nintendo actually has directly already said they won't pay for exclusives either, as they're not interested in getting into bidding wars against MS/Sony.

The types of exclusives Nintendo is likely to attract as such are likely family-friendly brands -- LEGO, Sonic, and casual stuff like that Singing game they published.

One clear message: Nintendo wants multiplats, but they won´t make huge efforts to convince developers do to them if they don´t want to. They will go for partnerships that grants them exclusive stuff. Period.

That´s their strategy for the WiiU and nothing more. Will it be sucessfull ? Maybe yes, maybe not. Time will tell.

Good that's how it should be with Nintendo.

There are going to be very, very few publishers willing to make exclusive games for a platform that has a userbase as small as the Wii U.

Sonic/LEGO/Sing type brands make some sense, but big budget games? No way.

"They don't care" = they can't get most of them

Sorry, but Nintendo seemed very interested in getting 3rd party games before WiiU's launch and earlier on.

Check the new tittle, Nintendo is basically doing the exact same thing they did with the GC, by getting exclusive games (or time exclusive) and partnerships with 3rd parties. Multiplats games for the most part will be an afterthought, but that doesn't mean they don't care, they will simple going to pay more attention to exclusives.

Bold 1: That was just an example, never implied that one of them will happen.

Bold 2: Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, Shin Megami x Fire Emblem and Monster Hunter are not casual games at all.

Indeed. But we all know how well that worked for GC. Not saying WiiU will suffer the same fate, but I see it following a similar one at least. They need multiplats to make it above 50m at least, because they didn't have the big first party breakthroughs from the get-go.

Lets dont kid ourselves. We can easily say that the U is becomeing the next GC by every day. Hell the GC had a pretty damn strong 3rd party support, yet look what numbers it reached.

OT: the more exclusives the better, but Nintendo really has to step up the game. Both quantity and quality wise. Sonic is big, but not even far a real sales driver. Yakuza HD port... well thats something to I guess.

They seriously need to get some AAA western exclusives to...

Those are projects financed by Nintendo though with the exception of Monster Hunter.

There's only so many games Nintendo is going to finance themselves. Nintendo financing saying The Wonderful 101 really isn't all that different from them financing and publishing The Last Story (well they didn't even bother to publish in North America, but you get the point).

I love exclusives like in the N64 era

It only had 400 games but most were exclusives and that made it shine
