Forums - Gaming - What are your thoughts on Nintendo?

Perhaps those of you who crave new IPs from Nintendo should make the effort to play the new IPs they have made, rather than just claiming that they haven't made any at all.

I like them. I like their IPs. I like their hardware. Get over it.

Exactly, Nintendo brought many new IPs since the GC era, barely any were really successful, mostly because of different factors like zero advertisement, weak/poor media coverage, consumer misconfidence because of 3rd party shovelware effect..etc. gamers demand new AAA IPs but thats hardly possible if they dont support the smaller ones its bussiness, it works that way...:P

I like Pokemon.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Nintendo has gone far away from what I think a hardware company should be. I would be very happy if they were only a software company. They took forever making a HD console. The Wii U comes right when the nextbox and PS4 are coming,  both of them are continuing my preference towards making every gen have substantially better visuals.

The handheld market has a lot of games that could be easily played on mobile. And, since most of their games are simple enough to do this (JRPGs mostly) excluding quality shooters, I am thinking they need to make software for mobile. I am all over the mobile potential.  I never was into buying what I perceive as over priced handheld games. Making the games cheaper on moblie platforms would be a benifit to all consumers, as they could be bought by more people rather than limiting the audience by having to own a very limited nintendo handheld that is mostly there for games only.

You quite underestimate the depth of handheld Nintendo games. The point to value retention is that they don't treat the games like throwaway 99 cent trash.

Hard to say it will be at least two years before I can awnser how good DS games play on tablets as they are not my priority and I got a big back log of games to play already. I have played quite a few JRPGs on my tablet and they work great. There are more and more great games every month that are deeper and more than 99 cents , and judging by how many developers are investing in it there will only be more and more of quality and depth all the time.

Loved them before. Like them now. I find they make too many mistakes, and unlike the other guys, they seem less inclined to learn from those mistakes and move on. I have not been totally on board with them since the GC days. That was the last system I truly supported from them. I'm warming up to the Wii U despite my feelings about it (in the general sense).

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Yeah because buying Wii Sports Resort is totally how you send a message you want another Eternal Darkness style new IP.

How you deciphered my comment into that is a mystery for the ages.

Still my favorite 1st party developer (although I barely played any of MS and Sony's franchises except for a few such as Halo, Fable, Banjo Kazooie, God of War, Wipeout, etc).

Not a fan of their hardware - I still think the GCN controller is the best and the best console is the SNES in terms of equal first and third party software (right next to the NES) but for obvious reasons being software. (wat Sega competition l0l).

I've played pretty much all of their franchises (even the ones for a bit/not fully like Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing). I still have a lot of catching up though - still need to actually play Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Pikmin and Metroid.

I enjoy mostly: 3D Mario, 2D Mario, Mario RPG, Mario Sports (mostly Tennis), Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Mother/Earthbound, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Pokemon and Golden Sun.

Only thing they need to do now is...make a Pokemon MMO! DO IT!

Anyways Nintendo Software > Nintendo Hardware

I will score them overall 8.5 out of 10.

how can an excelent design as the GCs pad one be lost in time and space is still a mystery to me :p

While this thread is still on going.

If Nintendo dont release Pokemon Snap U, then someone at Nintendo is a fucking idiot. Its a perfect title for Wii U. A Pokemon Snap sequel is long overdue. Theres a new Pokemon generation releasing. People like taking pictures. People like Pokemon.

Make the damn game, Nintendo.

You're suggesting support new IPs to get more ne IPs, ignoring the content like it is all the same.

No, I'm calling out the idiocy of claiming NO NEW IPS when new IPs have been created.

I'm not getting into an argument with you about what IPs there should be, because I know you can never be pleased.
