That development team has spent about half (at most) of its time actually on that project. They've been spread out over FFXIII, XIII-2, and XIV.

And probably some on Lightning Returns, too.

Square Enix is a mess.

They're a complete mess from a management perspective.

I do think that a 360 version is inconsequential. Especially after 360 owners completely ignored XIII-2 (and that's after JRPGs stopped releasing on the platform at all).

Well, I dabbled in all the PSP and DS/3DS ones. Can't say which ones I completed. I have completed Kingdom Hearts 3D: Drop Distance at least. I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to complete them all seeing that KH3 won't come out until 3053.

Beat BBS and you should be good for the most part, though you'll miss some details in Days and Recoded (Recoded to a much lesser extent).

this^

BBS = Takes off where KH2's Secret Ending left off which builds up to KH3 and explains quite a few big plot points. Mainly, the villain's orgins.

Days = Spin off telling what happened to Roxas

DDD= Totally hamfisted somewhere in the middle to stall more time and rake in more bucks. Fun tho from what I hear.

I completely disagree with you here. The plot in DDD actually answers quite a lot of questions regarding Xehanort's plan and the Organisation XIII while the ending ties together many strings and makes for a good point for Kingdom Hearts III to take off. Basically Kingdom Hearts 2.5 while BBS could be considered Kingdom Hearts 0.5

I don't know where some people get this budget numbers (750M? )but they are ridiculous, lets say 150 people are working on Versus and each one makes 100K a year on average that would mean that the development of Versus cost 15 millions per year, now lets say that the team has been working for 7 long years without any interruptions whatsoever that would mean 15M X 7 = 105M

Lets say Square decides to spend a whopping 100M in marketing, 105M + 100M = 205M

Not even close to that 750M figure and thats assuming the Versus team have been working for 7 years straight.

100k a year seems ridiculously high.

I though that was the average wage for someone working on the industry. Still the budget doesn't get even close to 750M, not even Avatar cost that much.

Avatar cost roughly the same as the figure you calculated.

I don't even think it will be that high, although I reckon it's still going to stuggle to be profitable.

I'm sure if Sony wanted to keep the game exclusive they could. Wouldn't Sony easily be able to cover the cost of the lost profits from a 360 or Wii U version?

Does Square-Enix even sell games anymore? It seems like they're only in the business of making them, perpetually.

Let's say it would sell 3 million on 360 and 3 million on Wii u, that's 6 million potential buyers and at $60 a copy they would be missing out on at least $360 million in sales....I doubt Sony would put out that much for one game. I would rather they use that money on new Ip's

this is assuming that people who would buy it on 360 are new adopters  to the series, which is the general flaw with making a game go multiplat. If the game is exclusive, lets just say it does 7million lifetime. If its multi on 360 and WiiU for kicks it would be PS3=4mil 360=2.5 WiiU=0.8mill. This is the general pattern of multiplatformed games in comparison to exclusive entries. Its not a mysterious doubling of fanbase, it is actually a migration of existing one with normal levels of increase/decrease depending on game popularity.
