It'll be interesting to see how long Mario Kart 8 can stay on the charts. I'm not expecting too much.

Edit: Yikes at Mario Party...!

In a week 12 games leave the chart. Mario Kart is probably on for good.

I'm really surprised to see it chart 2.5 months before release.....that's really amazing.

Wasn't yakuza Ishin charting since mid december or before?.. and SAO for Vita began arround 80 days before... but for WiiU is a achievement..

COMG doesn't typically favor Nintendo, and the WiiU has a small install base in Japan. Vita & PS3 are a lot bigger, plus COMG loves Sony.

So 77 Days for Mario Kart 8 >>>>> SAO/Yakuza.

Tells us the WiiU has hope, plus Mario Kart is the definition of legs (for sales). So even if it's only ranked as high as SAO, it's going to really boost sales for years to come.

Mario Kart 8 was doomed??

That game would sell 2mil on a console that only sold 500k

Well it's one of many with 16 points, but there's a 15-point game in the chart below them. I think if MK picks up even a single point in the next few days it'll be safe. Even if it doesn't, there's a good chance it'll be fine. Depends on what's below #20.

I know.  I was commenting on the "it just passed two games" part.  Either it passed one game or it passed 3 games.  2 was an extremely odd number to choose.

neither of those pulled up amazing pre orders, though. It's not as much of an achievement as it is good news. the last two major wii u titles (mario and dk) only showed up shortly before release. now mario kart appears 2.5 months before release, wich shows how anticipated it is.

Take another look and have a think about whether that's actually true or not :P

it's 17th now and I assume i was 21th before. two games left the chart and it passed another two.

It has 16 points.  The games at 17th, 18th and 19th all have 16 points.

It's only higher than them by whatever metric COMG chooses to rank games by which have exactly the same number of points.  Which apparently isn't alphabetical nor based on the number of days remaining.

That's all I was getting at.

You do realize how huge the differences between those IPs are? Mario Kart is about 15x more popular than both of those series in Japan. It's a lock for 2 million lifetime at least. SAO will be lucky to pass 250k.
