Bad day for DQ ps4 but Gundam winning the day with 6. I wonder will they open MHW pre orders this month or will they wait until a later date such as TGS.

MHW will do good in Japan. No1 should expect it to be as high as others. Doing 500k+ is good enough for it. Has a chance at 1mil, the only thing that can hurt it imo is a mh5 announcement

Those would be terrible sales for a game that costs much more to produce than 3DS MH games. 

Good thing capcom confirmed to Dengeki today that it is MH5 developed by the main team.  They just thought the World name was better.  This is excellent news for ps4 in Japan as it's ps4 exclusive there.  What a swoop for the platform. 

You do realise games have cost more then MH to make and sold less but still been very profitable? 

500k-750k lifetime will not be good enough, that would be horrible for a mainline monster hunter now (The Wii one 1 million that should be the standard that it needs to live up to). I know the Japanese gamers here (those that follow the charts) accepted things like Final Fantasy selling 1 million as good, but things like that are not good, when you have huge decline from previous entry, namely in the strongest region for the game (this relates to Monster Hunter). It needs to beat Tri for the Wii, or at least rival the wii version to be good enough. 

It is like those that said Persona 5 just needs to rivaling Persona 4 Golden to be great (It needed to do better to be great, which it did), we need to stop lowering the standards for success.

1.8m views already for MH World on the Japan youtube. 22k likes and 1k dislikes. Good reception over there so far. The next 12 months for ps4 are looking good with DQ11, MH and KH3!

Damn Gundam Versus can't catch a break! It's been doing very strong since the last few days!

My prediction for Monster Hunter World is that it will sell at least 800k lifetime.
1M would be nice, it looks like it won't be very difficult to achieve that with the game being PS4 exclusive in Japan.
1.5M would be amazing, they should advertise this game very strong for that. 2M would be insane but it would be really hard to achieve that.

Yeah, the series has pretty much been stagnant throughout its life on the 3DS (Barring some gameplay additions), so the announcement of a MH with new visuals etc. is certainly what the series needed, and it'll be very interesting to see how it sells in the West. MH4U seems to have been its peak in the west with ~1.3m sold, so it'll be interesting to see if it matches up with that.

That being said, considering its popularity on handhelds, i along with i assume many others doubt Capcom will abandon that space, more specifically the Switch. MH on that format is just too popular in Japan and, as shown with the numbers of MH4U, has its fans in the West too. And MHXX certainly won't be a measurement for its popularity, given the game's already had most of its run on the 3DS.
