Persona 5 or Yakuza 6: Game of the Year 2016 in Japan < 3

FF15 is good, but this two games are incridble! ( :

YSO predictions were pretty off this week.

01. [PS4] Final Fantasy XV < 700k (average 600k) - 716.649
02. [3DS] Pokemon Sun / Moon < 220k (average 200k) - 225.697
03. [3DS] Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS < 90k (average 75k) - 160.016
04. [PS4] Watch Dogs 2 < 75k (average 60k) - 46.819
00. [PS4] Hardware < 100k (average 85k) - 116.593

Another reason why it shouldn't be taken for gospel. Like COMG of course but tell that to NeoGAF.

Low balled PS4 hardware and FFXV badly. The good news is with digital FFXV likely had a debut over 800K in Japan. Thankfully there will be big growth in Asian regions and the West is hodling strong. The series is in great  health overall.

Also the last day ratio for FFXV is incredible.

470 pts ---> 700k first week

Superb ratio. And we should consider this for future titles. I don't think the ratio will be quite so good but if Yakuza 6 does the same it's retail debut will be 280k+. Consdiering digtital we've got a 300k+ opening. Hopefully.

Better than nothing SaGa...

Yakuza 6 did alright. Ratio of the game will be important. A similar ratio to Final Fantasy XV would be nice!

Tomorrow is going to be interesting with 3 new games!

Turns out FFXV shipped around 1.1m. Pretty much guaranteed to sell 1m+ now with the help of retailer discounts and it will probably sell over 200k digital especially when you consider it will get very cheap with discounts on psn over the years.  Guess it won't be massively down on 13 when all is said and done.

Turn out Square Enix is over shipped FF XV and forced to cut the price at retails similar situation like FF Type-0
seems like they never learned the past mistake

lol it's like a 15% price cut. Its regular price was 7,200 yen and it's now 6,000 yen. We get 20% off pre-orders (and 2 weeks after release) on Amazon here in the US and Canada. It's a pretty normal discount to keep consumers interested and to compete with the used market. Until it reaches the bargain bin it's fine.

Well if Square Enix really did ship over 1.1m copies then yeah it might need price cuts lol

Why would retailers accept so many for a first shipment? 1m would have been just fine.

Have a read of the thread on gaf.  someone used Dengeki sales and their sell through report to estimate 1.1m.

And yes as you say it's normal in the industry even in the west.  Just look at titanfall 2 and dishonoured 2 50% off just 2 weeks after launch.  Watch dogs 2 30% off.  Crazy infinite warfare deals.  ROTR 50% off.  The list is endless.
