only ten, i was really expecting more
That's not a good number for Final Fantasy. Bombal Floptasy. PS4 hardware is not good either, my goodness, they really screwed up Final Fantasy.
On the other hand, Monster Hunter will never die.
Good day overall for the chart. 10 points for FFXV

Really? I was thinking it would do around 400-450k fw. If it does above 500k retail only that would be great

SMM pre-order are low but it's not making me sad because I feel that will either have a spectacular pre-orders to sales ratio, or great legs!
For instance, Xenoblade for New 3ds had only 27p and sold 74k FW 1:3200 and Super Mario 3D World opened just with 100k and as of now it has sold nearly 800k...
Anyway, is being released on holidays and will be benefited from it a lot, as many other Nintendo titles in the past.
On other topic; Mario Maker, The Last Guardian, Puyo Puyo, and Saga reservations were improving during this week, especially the handheld version of Mario Maker.
At Sofmap, Pokémon is still relevant and merchadising as these toys are very popular. Also there will be an event for Watch Dogs.

The whole console market is down in Japan still.
So I think the numbers are acceptable for FF and PS4.
IF PS4 was up on PS3 (FFXIII week) or any other singular week, but FFXV down then we could definitely call FFXV flop and vice versa.
But since everything is down, we really cannot expect the market to magically be up with less software releases.
FFVII still has a chance to top FFXV, but I personally don't expect it to. We shall see.

PS4 and PS3 are really neck to neck in terms of hardware sales (same time frame), so it doing worse than Final Fantasy XIII is showcasing a decline. The fact that people think these numbers are acceptable in general is because of jadedness from months of it doing bad in COMG, but even with jaded outlook these numbers are just bad. I would have guessed at least a million a year ago, now I wondering if 800,000 is even something I should expect first week, I think it will do better than 600,000 but besides that no idea.

They are, but no PS4 week (aside from launch) has surpassed 150k or even 100k IIRC.
PS3 with FFXIII easily surpassed 200k. PS3 with FFXIII was quite the anomaly.
You can't expect PS4 to match those numbers, and likewise for FFXV. The market will not support it despite any install base.
The Vita has 0 games to surpass 1m sold physical, much less First week, despite doing quite well in Japan HW and SW wise.
Even the 3DS has trouble getting 1m sellers with >4 times the install base. Only repeat offenders like Pokemon, YW (not anymore) and MH do it in the first week.
Good day for ffxv, worried about the last guardian, hopefully it will do better in the west
