I think it will least match FFXIII's perfomance in Europe. We'll see  if that happens.

XV's performance is giving me premature hypertension.

The fact it will do worse than XIII-2 on COMG is simply unbelievable!

I think it has to be down to the main cast simply not hitting a chord with the general audience that buys FF in Japan. There is no age range, no gender/species variety and no colour. Being a hardcore fan I don't mind this change at all and welcome it as it'll be different. But to the casual player maybe they see nothing of themselves in the cast and have no interest on going on an adventure in the game.

PS4's hardware/software situation and the long wait between mainline entries is probably the biggest reason though.

XIII did 5.65 Million outside of Japan (Japan was only 1.87). So if the game can gain a few million or so abroad it's fine. From what I have heard on neogaf the western preorder for XV are very high and S-E is thrilled by them.

I think its not really the appeal of the character that`s the problem (because they look like typical Nomura characters) but more like the fact that the mainstream audience (I think someone posted this earlier as well?) simply isn`t there anymore on the console market. That`s why Persona 5 (niche) does well for its franchise and XV can`t get even close to former sucess.

Though that`s not the only reason, I think its the biggest reason for this drop. Outside of that its the XIII trilogy damaging the brand (as seen by Lightning Returns also having that flat line in preorders) and general decrease in software sales in Japan.

The most important thing is that FFXV is not getting points at all and not the fact the it's doing worse than FFXIII-2 or FFXIII which both had a strange ratio while PS4 games ratio on COMG usually translates to 1 point-1 copy.

That is not really an old school final fantasy game, as much as it seems to be fan service final fantasy game, honestly it reminds me of Dragon Quest Joker series.
