So Dark Souls III did pretty much exactly the same as Dark Souls II first week. We really can't neglate digital sales when we compare with last gen. It has changed very quickly.

I mean, that's still only 10-20%, but it's at least consistently higher than the previous expectation of <10% on older hardware. A consolation prize when comparing to previous generations at least.

Edit: Saw this in the same thread to help illustrate my point.

Those digital ratios are percentage of total sales. For example, Dragon Quest Builders PS4 did 17.9% of it's total FW sales digitally.

Yeah, the musou spinoff curse is real. I'm afraid what a Hyrule Warriors sequel would do, since the first didn't exactly perform gangbusters in Japan. Although it seems like that would be more of something made for the west, which is strange since it's probably the only musou game to have more appeal over here. xD

After putting up with the negative doom mongerers over on gaf I'm delighted to see that excellent digital ratio for DS3. So no Japan gaf, DS3 didn't under perform. It was pointed out to them that bloodborne had a high digital ratio but they were having none of it.

And the division is beasting digitally.
