I do hope Star Ocean 5 picks up. I think it's looking far better than Star Ocean 4.

Honestly, I'm kinda shocked about the lack of hype around it, I think it's looking miles better than 4.

I'm wondering if they chose the wrong time to launch it.  Too late in PS3's life (Tales was still doing decent numbers on the console in 2011/2012) and too early in PS4's life (I know it's getting more relevant Japanese software now, but we've yet to see anything really "take off" on it aside from maybe MGS5 which I feel is hitting a different audience; and DQH which was boosted by a lot of promotion and the digital download offer).

Or maybe the IP is just damaged at this point.  Square Enix seem to be seeing a fair bit of this - I'm wondering if Saga Scarlet Grace will meet a similar fate.

The Star Ocean IP might have been damaged. The fourth entry was quite mediocre, and even it was ported to PS3 after FFXIII launch (meaning that a lot of new JRPG users were in), it sold less than the 360 version.

Still, ratio will probably be better. It might sell good enough, after all.

Thinking back, I don't think you're wrong. With the quality of the game and the fact that it was released on the 360. I do think some might have sworn off the series. I hope they do give it another chance. While SO 4 was a mess, this doesn't look the same.

Dark Souls 3 continues to do amazing!!!

Uncharted 4 could do very good numbers in Japan too, showing up 67 days ahead for a western game is great!
