oh it will. This gen is bringing not only 99% of B/W consumers but older gen fans! Never seen a gen so hoped aside from gold/silver! People that wrry about numbers here shouldnt be! Also i said this before look at the_Dengle chart. pokemon b/w got f***ed over cuz even though it had over 3000points with a week left, numbers went backwards due to supply issue and FW points were actually 3000 even (wat i mean is the numbers for pokemon dont mean crap unlike other titles!) pokemon pre orders were 260k in japan first weekend. Nothing to wrry about! Long Live XY!

Aren't catridges expensive and more time consuming to produces than most other media? They've (other pubslihers have as well) slowpoked and undershipped on all major games.

They've dropped in price considerably since the old home console cartridge days but you are correct thinking that others, like optical media, are still cheaper and quicker to mass produce.

Pokemon and MH will sell well but right now it looks like they're both going to be a bit of a drop on previous gens. I'm hoping this is more about a smaller install base and digita than the beginning of the end for Pokemon. I honestly don't know what I'd do if that ever happened!! :(
Monster Hunter 4 is looking to recieve 3600 points or so, which is over 70% as well as Monster Hunter 3 Portable. Considering MH4 is also available digitally, this to me means that it will likely sell 80% as well. Not bad.
However I forget how Playstation and Nintendo games scale with points. Is it Nintendo or Playstation that scales better? i.e. for x number of points would a Playstation game have less or more real world sales?
---
Regardless, 3DS will see a nice boost in 2 weeks via Media Create and 3 weeks via VGC.

Usually it tends to be 1pt=1000 in COMG to MC 1st week conversion on a Nintendo system, and around 1pt to 600-800 conversion on PS.
However, for a game like Monster Hunter which tends to get pre-ordered more, it could be around PS level.

MH won't manage to reach 3500pts :(

It's looking like MH will do 1.5-1.8m if MH3G numbers are extrapolated.

The end of Pokemon? Not likely, probably not going to get that many points, but its going to have some amazing sales, the 2DS, the bundles, the new features, it could be one of the strongest entries.
