Are they completey not being produced?  I thought there was some remnant of production left. 

I could have swore sony stopped making ps2's and nintendo promised to continue making ds's. IF the Ds overtakes the ps2 sometime next year its gonna be pretty funny.

The DS is not a console otherwise the PC is a console and is the best selling gaming console of all time.

The PS2 likely outshipped the DS in the past 12 months.  Sony shipped 16.5 million PS2/PS3's this past fiscal year.  Since the PS3 was down YoY, that would mean at least 2.6 million PS2's were shipped.  The DS in comparison shipped 2.35 million.  The PS2 also outshipped it for 2/4 quarters in the 12 months before that.

The DS is basically done outside of the US.  In the past six months, Nintendo has only shipped 40k outside of the Americas.  If the 2.6 million number is accurate, then the DS is at least 3.83 million behind.

PS2 didn't sell that many either. PS2 only sold 153.68, and DS has sold higher at 154.55.

Saying DS isn't a gaming console is like saying humans aren't mammal.

Saying a PC is a gaming console is like saying all animals are mammals.

In fact, given that the DS possesses its own screen and the PS2 does not, DS actually fits the definition of gaming console more accurately.

Have you not read any of this thread or any other threads on this forum about PS2 & DS sales? It is a FACT that Vgchartz numbers are wrong for the PS2 & DS, and this is a thread discussing what the REAL numbers are.

The PS2 has sold more than the DS, and the DS is never likely to over take it.
